MANCHESTER, N.H. – On Wednesday, the Saint Anselm College men's golf team finished in a tie for second place out of six teams at the Penmen Season Finale hosted by Southern New Hampshire. Freshman
Brandon Vitarisi (Reading, Mass.) had the best individual performance for the Hawks, tying for third out of 36 golfers at one-over par after two rounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- For the third time this spring, Vitarisi was Saint Anselm's top finisher and tied for third place on the individual leaderboard. He finished the two-round tournament at one-over par and recorded three birdies in round two.
- Also cracking the top 10 for the Hawks and climbing eight spots on day two was senior Michael Papamechail (Danvers, Mass.) to finsh tied for sixth. After shooting two-over par in round one, Papamechail carded an even par score of 70 in round two, which included three birdies on the last six holes.
- Freshman Riley Reardon (Woburn, Mass.) tied for 10th place at +5 after 36 holes. Reardon turned in a one-over par in round one before closing the event with four-over par on Wednesday.
- Freshmen Nicholas Emery (Pawtucket, R.I.) and Nick Nowak (Amherst, N.H.) competed at this event for Saint Anselm as well. Nowak carded a +15 score for the event, while Emery finished at +22.
- Southern New Hampshire won the tournament with an even par score as a team, which included a three-under score after round one.
- Saint Anselm and Dominican (N.Y.) finished in a tie for second place at +19. Assumption's "B" team was three strokes back in fourth place, while Post came in fifth and Assumption's "A" team came in sixth.
