CANDIA, N.H. –The Saint Anselm College men's golf team finished in a tie for first place with Post at the Hawk Invitational on Tuesday afternoon to secure its first tournament win since 2023. The Hawks shot +10 as a team during the 18-hole event, tying the Eagles and three shots better than the next closest team. Freshman Nicholas Emery (Pawtucket, R.I.) led Saint Anselm with the squad's best individual score of +1 to finish in a tie for fifth place individually, while senior Michael Papamechail (Danvers, Mass.) closely followed at +2 and finished in a tie for ninth.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Emery paced Saint Anselm with a one-over par score of 72 on the day, good for a tie for fifth place individually in a field of 52 golfers. The freshman made four birdies, including three on the back nine.
- Papamechail also had a strong day for the Hawks and tied for ninth place after carding a two-over par score of 73. The senior made six birdies, with half of those coming on the opening three holes.
- One stroke back of Papamechail was freshman Riley Reardon (Woburn, Mass.), who finished in a tie for 11th place with a +3 score of 74.
- Sophomore Brady Warren (Lynn, Mass.) matched Reardon by also shooting three-over par on the afternoon. Warren showed his consistency with pars on 14 holes.
