Vitarisi Shines for Men's Golf in Final Round of Saint Anselm Florida Invitational

ORLANDO, Fla. –The Saint Anselm College men's golf team wrapped up the Saint Anselm Florida Invitational with sixth and seventh place finishes on Tuesday afternoon. The "A" team for the Hawks improved by five strokes in the second round, finishing +18 on the day and +41 for the tournament to secure sixth place out of seven teams. The "B" team placed seventh, shooting +39 in the final round and +70 overall. Saint Anselm was led by freshmen Brandon Vitarisi (Reading, Mass.), who finished tied for 14th place out of 42 golfers with a +5 score through the two-day event.
 



HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Vitarisi recorded six birdies on the day, finishing round two with a +1 score. He climbed four spots in the individual rankings to secure the team's best finish: a tie for 14th place with a +5 score through 36 holes.
  • Competing individually, freshman Nick Nowak (Amherst, N.H.) also had a stellar second-round performance for the Hawks. He shot +1 on the day and moved up two spots on the leaderboard. Nowak finished tied with Vitarisi for fifth place in just the second round, and tied for 24th in the tournament with a total score of +8.
  • Senior Michael Papamechail (Danvers, Mass.) shot a +6 in the second round and brought his two-day total to +9, good for 29th place individually.
  • Freshman Riley Reardon (Woburn, Mass.) carded a +3 in the final round, climbing two spots in the rankings to finish in 31st place with a +11 overall.
  • Sophomore Brady Warren (Lynn, Mass.) turned in a score of +5 on the day, highlighted by the team's lone eagle of the tournament on the 16th hole. He checked in right behind Reardon in a tie for 32nd place with a +13 score for the event.
  • Adelphi continued their strong play in the second round and posted a team score of -2. The Panthers grabbed the tournament win with a two-day total of -5, 12 strokes better than Bentley and Post.

  • Saint Anselm returns to New Hampshire to prepare for the Hawks Invitational at Candia Woods Golf Links, a two-day tournament set to begin on Monday, April 14th.
