MANAHAWKIN, NJ — The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) recognized nearly 430 outstanding undergraduate student-athletes from more than 30 institutions on the 2024 Division II National Academic Squad on Wednesday morning.
Sponsored by OPA Winning Teams, the NFHCA National Academic Squad program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher through the fall semester, nominated by their NFHCA member coaches.
From the Saint Anselm team freshman Meghan Carey (South Hadley, Mass.), freshman Alexa Garthee (Marstons Mills, Mass.), freshman Colleen Stankiewicz (Manchester, N.H.), and freshman Leila Härtel (Mannheim, Germany) all earned their first nod to the squad.
Seniors Chloe Kapsambelis (Merrimack, N.H.) and Ava Rayfield (Dover-Foxcroft, Maine) each earned Scholars of Distinction with their fourth year of being named to the National Academic Squad.
Three prestigious Division II academic awards are yet to be unveiled — the NFHCA Scholars of Distinction will be announced on February 14, the NFHCA National Academic Team awards on February 18, and concluding with the announcement of the National Scholar-Athlete on February 20.
