MANCHESTER, N.H. – Three members of the nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College field hockey team were selected to All-America teams as Synapse Sports released their national honors, the organization announced last week.
Senior back Millie Forster, recently named to the All-America First Team by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA), picked up her second First Team selection of her career with Synapse's selection
Forster helped the Hawks to their third Northeast 10 Conference Championship in school history as the conference's Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference selection. Following the team's NCAA Championship appearance, Forster was selected to the NFHCA Senior Team and was later named to the First Team All-East Region by the NFHCA before earning All-America honors.
Forster started in all 22 games for the Hawks as a senior back and helped limit opponents to 1.05 goals per game, while also adding five goals and two assists Throughout the season, Forster earned two NE10 Defensive Player of the Week awards as the Hawks recorded nine shutouts.
Meghan Carey earned the first All-America honors of her career, being named to the Second Team following a breakout season for the sophomore midfielder. Carey was named to the NFHCA All-East Region First Team after producing seven goals and adding one assist over 22 games after tallying just point in her freshman campaign. Carey recorded two game-winning goals including a double-overtime stunner to defeat NE10 rival Bentley University in a conference matchup on Oct. 22.
Freshman forward Breanna Shorey earned an All-Rookie Team selection after leading the team in points with 21, posting seven goals and seven assists, with her seven assists tied for sixth in the NE10. She played the hero for the Saint Anselm as she buried a goal 3:19 into the second overtime period in the NE10 Semifinals to push the Hawks past Adelphi University, 1-0, and into the title match.
Forster, Carey, and Shorey made up three of the 18 selections from the NE10 as 48 student-athletes from the nation were honored.
