MANCHESTER, N.H. – Freshman Kayla Czukoski of the Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team has been named the Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) National Co-Goalie of the Month for November.
Czukoski posted a 5-1-0 overall record, including a perfect 5-0-0 mark in New England Women's Hockey Alliance play over the month. For the month, the freshman registered a .962 save percentage and a 1.82 goals against average, stopping 275 of 286 shots faced. Her contributions helped lift the Hawks to the top of the NEWHA standings.
The Exton, Pa. native turned in standout performances with 50 saves in a non-conference 2-0 loss to No. 12/13 Yale University, and 55 saves in a 4-2 win at Post University, earning her second NEWHA Rookie of the Week honors. She earned her first November NEWHA Rookie of the Week honor after back-to-back victories against Sacred Heart University. Czukoski posted a .972 save percentage and 1.00 goals against average in the two-game series.
Czukoski also claimed her first career NEWHA Goaltender of the Month honors following a weekend sweep over conference opponent Long Island University (LIU). The freshman netminder stopped 48 shots in a 2-1 victory to open the series, then made 43 saves the following day as the Hawks earned the program's 400th victory since its inaugural campaign (2004-05). She finished the weekend with a 1.50 goals against average and a .968 save percentage. She capped off the month with a 47-save outing in a 4-3 overtime win over Assumption University.
This season, Czukoski has garnered two monthly awards from the NEWHA, being named the Rookie of the Month for September/October and the Goaltender of the Month in November.
Czukoski becomes the third Saint Anselm student-athlete to receive the HCA national honors, and the first goaltender to receive national recognition.
