Women’s Ice Hockey Falls, 4-2, at Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team fell in a non-conference battle against Dartmouth College by a final score of 4-2 on Saturday afternoon at Thompson Arena.

Highlights

  • Freshmen Nicola Forth and Kayla Lunney recorded one goal and one assist each, as two of four Saint Anselm skaters who finished with a +2 on-ice rating.
  • Lunney's goal marked the first of her collegiate career.
  • Sophomore Kismet Dogan notched one assist while classmate Lucy DeCoteau went 9-for-16 (56.3%) on faceoffs.
  • The freshman trio of Madison Macaulay, Taylor Buckley, and Avery Wilson each blocked two shots as the Hawks compiled 13 total blocks.
  • Freshman goaltender Kayla Czukoski made 42 saves in the loss.
  • The Hawks are now 2-4-0 in the all-time series against the Big Green, which dates back to the 2021-22 season. This was the third game played at Thompson Arena through six matchups.

How it Happened

The Big Green were first on the board, scoring 3:55 into the first period, as Cally Dixon found the back of the net.

The Hawks answered nearly five minutes later as sophomore Nicola Forth recorded a short-handed tally, firing in a wrist short to the far-side on a 2-on-1 opportunity to tie the game at 1-1.

Dartmouth would get back in front with an unassisted goal 24 seconds later for the Big Green's lone power play goal.

With just over a minute left in the opening frame, freshman Kayla Lunney recorded her first collegiate goal, finishing on a feed from Forth in the slot to make it 2-2 heading into the first intermission.

Despite three power play opportunities for the Hawks in the second, Dartmouth scored twice in the final 5:26 of the period, including a short-handed goal, to take a 4-2 lead heading into the third.

The Hawks were unable to chip away at the deficit in the third as the Big Green

The Hawks (11-8-1, 11-2-1 NEWHA) will return to action on Friday, Jan. 9 to open a home-and-home with NEWHA foe Stonehill College (8-9-1, 8-5-1 NEWHA), with puck drop from Sullivan Arena set for 6:00 p.m.
