MANCHESTER, N.H. – Sophomore Colleen Stankiewicz of the Saint Anselm College field hockey team was presented the Elite 24 Award at the Northeast 10 Conference Field Hockey Championship on Sunday, following the Hawks' thrilling 3-2 victory over Bentley University in double overtime.
The Elite 24 Award, established in the 2018-19 season, honors the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average (GPA) participating at the finals site at each NE10 Championship.
"I'm so grateful to have received the Elite 24 Award and it is such an honor to represent Saint Anselm in this way," said Stankiewicz. "The support from all of my professors, teammates, and family members has been unwavering, but it's really the other nursing majors (Maggie Burchill '26, Sidney Falterer '25 and Sarah Woods '25, and Sophie Smith '28, Alexa Garthee '28, and Ruby Reid '28) that have helped me succeed so much academically. They are the best mentors I could have asked for and have helped me navigate the program and its demands."
Stankiewicz, a Nursing major, currently boasts a 3.959 cumulative grade point average.
"I am absolutely blown away by the effort Colleen puts into her academics, field hockey, and the numerous other roles and responsibilities she is committed to on campus," said head coach Carolyn King-Robitaille. "Her dedication to being a positive and impactful person in her community has inspired our team in so many ways and we are all thrilled to see her earn this award because we know how hard she works at it."
Stankiewicz became the fourth Saint Anselm student-athlete and second member of the field hockey program to be presented the award. Jackie Gaumer '22 was presented the award in the 2019-20 academic year for her 3.92 GPA in the Criminal Justice program.
