NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Saint Anselm College women's tennis senior Irene Garbo was selected as the Northeast 10 (NE10) Conference Player of the Week following a 4-0 showing over two conference matches at the No. 1 doubles and singles courts last week.
In Wednesday afternoon's lost at Assumption University, Garbo earned a victory with classmate Natalia Gonzalez Ramos, 6-2, in a doubles dual before recording a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in her singles match.
In the Hawks' first win over Bentley since 2022 on Saturday afternoon, Garbo and Gonzalez Ramos were victorious by a score of 7-5 before the Assemini, Sardinia, Italy native capped off her week with a 6-1, 6-0 in her singles match.
Garbo and the Hawks will hit the road on Saturday, Oct. 25 for an NE10 showdown at Saint Michael's College (6-5, 1-4 NE10). First serve is slated for 1:00 p.m. at the SMC Tennis Courts. This will mark the second meeting of the season between both programs, as Saint Anselm was victorious, 4-3, over the Purple Knights at home back on Sep. 13.
