MANCHESTER, N.H. – Saint Anselm College Director of Athletics Phil Rowe has announced the hiring of Bill Aronson as the 14th head coach in the history of the Hawks women's tennis program.

He brings a unique perspective to coaching that emphasizes not only the development of athletes as tennis players, but also their growth as people. We look forward to the impact he will have on our women's tennis program and our student-athletes."
Aronson brings nearly four decades of experience as a certified tennis professional, with a coaching career that has spanned the collegiate, professional and international levels. He is certified by both the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) and has worked extensively with players ranging from beginners to elite competitors. In recognition of his contributions to the sport, Aronson was named the 2024 RSPA New England Tennis Professional of the Year.

Aronson's collegiate coaching experience includes head coaching stints at Springfield College and UMass Lowell, along with assistant coaching roles at Springfield and the University of Rochester.
Beyond the college ranks, Aronson served with the United States Tennis Association Player Development program in Miami as Administrator of Sport Science, where he helped develop the USA Tennis Parents Guide for coaches and families. He also served as an International Tennis Federation clinician in Uruguay.
His professional coaching career includes more than 15 years as a tennis professional at the Biltmore Tennis Center in Miami and work as a Harry Hopman tennis coach at Saddlebrook Resort in Florida. Aronson has directed tennis programs throughout the United States and internationally, teaching tennis, coaching, and sport psychology in Cuba, Malaysia, Jamaica, Thailand, Venezuela, Australia, Uruguay, and St. Kitts. He also coached for Ed Krass' College Tennis Academy.
Aronson's coaching philosophy is rooted in the connection between athletic performance and personal development. He earned both a master's degree and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from Springfield College, where his graduate work focused on counseling athletes. His master's thesis examined Stress Levels in Women Tennis Athletes, while his doctoral dissertation explored Retirement and Locus of Control of Retired Collegiate Athletes. He also served as a Research Fellow at Northeastern University's Center for the Study of Sport under noted sports scholar Richard Lapchick.
He later earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology with a specialty in behavioral medicine and health from the California School of Professional Psychology in Fresno. Throughout his career, Aronson has worked as a sport psychologist, educator, and professor, teaching sport psychology, human growth and development, and sport ethics at the University of Miami, Florida International University, Barry University, St. Thomas University, Miami Dade College, Florida Memorial University, and the United States Sports Academy.
Aronson has also been a leader in adaptive and inclusive tennis. He founded the Boston Wheelchair Tennis Association and has conducted wheelchair tennis clinics at the International Tennis Hall of Fame and the Eagle Tournament of Champions in New York. In addition, he is a certified Special Olympics tennis coach and has worked extensively with athletes with disabilities.
He currently serves as a tennis professional for the Town of Holderness, N.H., and as director of tennis at Indian Acres and Forest Acres in Fryeburg, Maine.
