NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Seniors Irene Garbo and Natalia Gonzalez Ramos, and sophomore Polina Makarenko of the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team earned Second Team Singles All-Conference recognition in Tuesday afternoon's Northeast 10 Conference release.
Garbo was solid at the No. 1 spot to earn All-Conference status following her senior campaign, going 9-3 at the top spot in the regular season. Eight of her nine victories came in straight sets, highlighted by a 6-0, 6-0 win over Assumption University in October. Garbo was named the NE10 Player of the Week in Week 6 after notching a 6-1, 6-0 victory against her opponent from Bentley University.
Gonzalez Ramos, playing on court three all season, finished with an 8-4 record in her senior campaign. Five of those wins came in straight sets, including a dominant 6-3, 6-1 win over her opponent at Southern New Hampshire University in October.
Makarenko went 9-2 in her sophomore season at court No. 4, with a pair of 6-0, 6-0 victories coming over Plymouth State University and Bentley University in September and October.
Garbo, Gonzalez Ramos, and Makarenko helped the Hawks back to the postseason tournament for the first time since the 2023-24 campaign, which resulted in their first tournament victory since 2002-03 when they defeated Franklin Pierce University, 4-1, on Friday, April 24.
