Reardon Places Fourth, Men's Golf Earns Sixth at Franklin Pierce Invitational

TOWNSEND, Mass. — After leading the pack in round one, freshman Riley Reardon (Woburn, Mass.) of the Saint Anselm College men's golf team finished in a tie for fourth place out of 62 golfers at the 2024 Franklin Pierce Invitational. As a team, the Hawks earned a sixth place finish out of 10 competing institutions in their first event of the season.


HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • After shooting three-under in round one, Reardon carded a six-over par in round two. The freshman finished his debut tournament with a +3 total to finish tied for fourth place on the individual leaderboard.
  • Senior Michael Papamechail (Danvers, Mass.) had a strong performance in round two and improved by seven strokes compared to his day one score. Papamechail shot a one-over 71 on Tuesday and finished with a combined score of +9 for the event, which placed him in a tie for 17th.
  • Also improving on his day one score was junior Chris O'Grady (Middleton, Mass.), who came in a tie for 25th place. O'Grady, who shot a 12-over 82 in round one, fired a two-over 72 on Tuesday, which was a nine-shot improvement and helped him finish the event with a +13.
  • Freshman Brandon Vitarisi (Reading, Mass.) turned in a seven-over 77 for round two, a two-shot improvement from round one. The freshman ended his tournament with a +16, placing him in a tie for 32nd.
  • Sophomore Brady Warren (Lynn, Mass.) shot a 14-over 84 in round two and came in a tie for 42nd with a +19.
  • Senior Anthony Picano (Reading, Mass.) was another Saint Anselm golfer who built on his day one performance. Picano improved by 12 strokes in round two and and shot a four-over 74, helping him end the event in a tie for 49th position with a +20.
  • Junior Connor Powers (Braintree, Mass.) and Peter Torres (North Dighton, Mass.) along with freshmen Tyler Feldberg (Middelton, Mass.) and Jack Murray (Reading, Mass.) also competed at the Franklin Pierce Invitational for the Hawks.
  • As a team, Saint Anselm finished in sixth place out of ten teams.

NEXT UP:
  • Saint Anselm will compete in the Granite State Opener next week on Monday, September 16th and Tuesday, September 17th at Beaver Meadow Golf Club in Concord, N.H.
