BOSTON, Mass. - Junior Hunter Brackett (Harwick Port, Mass.) of the Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey team has been named a semifinalist for the prestigious Joe Concannon Award, announced by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston on Thursday.

The Joe Concannon Award is presented annually to the best American-born NCAA Division II/III hockey player in New England. The award was established in 2001 shortly after the passing of the longtime writer for The Boston Globe, who had a great passion for the game of college hockey while always advocating strongly for amateur athletics.

Coleman Noonan '11 is the only Saint Anselm recipient of the honor, collecting the award during his junior season in 2010. He is also the only student-athlete from the Northeast-10 Conference to receive the award. Matt Hayes '23 and Jack Murphy '23 were both named semifinalists for the Hawks last season.

Playing in every game this season, Brackett currently ranks third in the Northeast-10 Conference and leads the team in goals (12). His 17 points are also tied for most on the squad, and the junior has set career-bests in both categories this season. In addition, his five assists ties the most in any season in his career with five regular season games still to play.

The Harwick Port native has scored two or more goals in three games this season, including a hat trick in a 5-2 win over Assumption University on January 19th. The junior has also posted six multi-point games and leads the Hawks with five power-play goals and three game-winners.

The Gridiron Club will announce the finalists and winner of the 23rd Joe Concannon Award in March, following league playoffs and before the start of the NCAA Frozen Four on March 22 & 24 on the campus of Trinity College in Hartford, CT.

Brackett and the Hawks host Southern New Hampshire for two games this weekend on Friday, February 9th and Saturday, February 10th from the Sullivan Arena.
