WORCESTER, Mass. – The No. 3 seed, Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey, rallied late but came up just short in the Northeast 10 Conference Championship, falling to top-seeded Assumption University by a 5-4 final on Saturday evening at the Worcester Ice Center.

- Senior John Myers recorded a three-point night with a goal and two assists to lead the Hawks offensively.
- Seniors Cam Collins and Luke Linart and sophomore Justin Tremblay each scored for Saint Anselm in the championship contest.
- Senior Garrett Alberti led all players with two points coming off two assists. Senior Michael Martignetti and junior Chris Cordeiro each posted one assist.
- Collins led the Hawks in the faceoff department, going 12-for-22 (54.5%) on draws taken.
- Junior netminder Cam Carroll made 40 stops in goal.
- Saint Anselm played in the NE10 title game for the 15th time since its establishing in the 2003-04 season.
How it Happened
Assumption opened the scoring late in the first period when Brett Cunningham finished a pass from Jonathan Surrette at the 14:59 mark, giving the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
Saint Anselm answered quickly in the second period as Tremblay netted an unassisted goal just 1:04 into the frame to even the score at 1-1.
The Greyhounds responded with a pair of goals to close the period. Dean Simeone regained the lead for Assumption at 6:04 before Patrick McKiernan added another unassisted marker at 15:27 to extend the advantage to 3-1 entering the third period.
Assumption pushed its lead to three goals early in the third period when Surrette scored a shorthanded tally at 8:16.
The Hawks began to rally shortly after as Collins scored at 9:19 to cut the deficit to 4-2, but Surrette struck again at 14:35 to restore the Greyhounds' three-goal cushion.
Saint Anselm mounted a late push in the closing seconds of regulation. Linart scored at 19:33 before Myers added another with just 3.6 seconds remaining, but Assumption held on for the 5-4 victory and the program's fourth-ever NE10 Championship.
All-Championship Team
Collins and Linart were the two Saint Anselm student-athletes named to the All-Championship Team.
Elite 24 Award
Sophomore Brendan Manning won the NE10's Elite 24 Award, posting a 4.0 GPA while double-majoring in Accounting and Business Administration. The Elite 24 Award honors the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average (GPA) participating at the finals site at each NE10 Championship. These student athletes represent the true essence of NE10 student-athletes earning it every day we are proud to recognize their efforts. The inaugural year for the Elite 24 Award was the 2018-19 season.
