Men's Golf Complete First Round of the Granite State Opener

CONCORD, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's golf team completed the first day of the Granite State Opener on Monday, Sept. 18 hosted by Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) at the Beaver Meadow Golf Course. The Hawks currently sit in sixth place out of 13 teams after playing the first 18 holes of the open.

  • The Hawks will conclude the open on Tuesday, Sept. 19 with the final 18 holes of the competition.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Fifth-year Drew Semons (Danvers, Mass.) was the Hawks individual leader after posting an even-par 72 in his opening 18 holes, good for a tie for 10th overall. Semons ended the first day with two birdies and just two bogeys.
  • Both fifth-year Lucas Dascoli (Everett, Mass.) and sophomore Anthony Picano (Reading, Mass.) were tied for 15th place after each carded a one-over 73. Dascoli fired five birdies while Picano carded three birdies.
  • Sophomore Chris O'Grady (Middleton, Mass.) was tied for 43rd after posting a five-over 77 for the Hawks. O'Grady carded a pair of birdies and seven bogeys.
  • Junior Michael Papamechail (Danvers, Mass.) finished day one with a seven-over 79 while senior Robbi Forti (Danvers, Mass.) carded an eight-over 80.
  • Senior Trevor Janis (Burlington, Mass.) rounded out the leaderboard for Saint Anselm with an 11-over 83 after the first 18 holes.
COACH'S CORNER: 
  • "Semons, Dascoli, and Picano played solid tee to green today, even though not many birdie putts fell," said head coach Shaun Bishop. "It's a tight leaderboard, so it's still anyone's tournament."
