MANCHESTER, N.H. – For the third consecutive season, senior
Drew Semons (Danvers, Mass.) will be headed to the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Atlantic/East Region Championship.
The Atlantic/East Region Championship will be hosted by Millersville University from the Iron Valley Golf Club in Lebanon, Pa. The first round of the three-day tournament is scheduled for Thursday, May 11 and will run through Saturday, May 13.
At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional will advance to the finals, running from Monday, May 22 through Friday, May 26 at Avalon Lakes in Warren, Ohio. The finals will be hosted by the Mountain East Conference and Avalon Lakes at The Grand Resort.
Semons joins
Pablo Hidalgo from Felician University and
Jared Walter and
Nelson Eaton from Bentley University as the East Region individuals. The teams competing from the East Region include Saint Thomas Aquinas, Le Moyne, Post, Assumption, Southern New Hampshire, Goldey-Beacom, Franklin Pierce, Adelphi, Wilmington (Del.), and Dominican (N.Y.).
The East region student-athletes will join
Juan Monckeberg from Glenville State,
Ryan D'Ariano and
Connor Strine from West Chester, and
Tyler Anderson from Notre Dame (Ohio) and Gannon, Indiana (Pa.), Davis & Elkins, Fayetteville State, Virginia Union, Millersville, Charleston (W.V.), West Liberty, California (Pa.), and Livingstone to create the field for the Atlantic/East Regional.
The senior competed as an individual in the 2021 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Atlantic/East Region Championship before aiding the Hawks to their first-ever team appearance in 2022.
Semons led the Hawks through the 2022-23 regular season with an average of 74.6 scoring average in 17 rounds played. The senior turned in a 70 in the second round of the Granite State Opener on Sept. 12, which was his top round of the season. Semons carded a 78 or lower in all 17 rounds played this season.
The senior aided the Hawks to their first tournament win since the 2018-19 season as Saint Anselm claimed the Golden Knights Orlando Invitational on Mar. 27 and Mar. 28, overcoming an 11-shot day one deficit to take the tournament.
