MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior
Jack Murphy (Marshfield, Mass.) of the Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey team collected New England Hockey Writers Association Division II-III Men's Ice Hockey All-Star honors on Friday.
Murphy and the Hawks skated to their 11th Northeast-10 Conference Championship in the beginning of March. The conference championship win also marked the 21st victory on the 2022-23 season, which is the most in a single campaign in program history. Saint Anselm was 21-10-3 on the season and was 13-5-2 against NE10 opponents.
Murphy was named the NE10 Defensive Player of the Year in his senior season. He also collected NE10 All-Conference First Team honors and was named a semifinalist for the prestigious Joe Concannon Award.
The senior scored three goals and assisted on 20 others for 23 points in 2022-23. Murphy was tied for third on the Hawks roster in points and was second in assists. Compared to the rest of the NE10, Murphy was tied for third in assists. Murphy put 88 shots on goal this season and skated to a plus-five on-ice rating. Murphy was credited with two power-play goals and one game-winning goal this season.
Murphy recorded at least one point in 17 of 33 games played in 2022-23 with five of those games being multi-point efforts. Murphy recorded four assists in the opening weekend of the season as he posted two against crosstown rival Southern New Hampshire and two in the home opener against Southern Maine on Oct. 28 and Oct. 29.
The senior's top performance of the season came on Feb. 4, 2023 against Saint Michael's. Murphy netted a pair of goals, including the overtime game-winner, and assisted on one other for three points in a 3-2 win over Purple Knights.
In 80 career games in a Hawks sweater, Murphy has scored eight goals and assisted on 32 others for 40 career points. Murphy has been credited with four power play goals and two game-winners and has skated to a plus-seven career on-ice rating.
