Men's cross country places 21st at UMass Dartmouth Invite

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College men's cross country team posted a 21st place finish on Saturday at the UMass Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational.

Racing in a field of 36 teams, the Hawks were led by freshman Neil Harrington (Malden, Mass.) and his five-mile time of 26:51.5 – he placed 89th in the crowded field. Junior Trevor Scopelites (Litchfield, N.H.) cracked the top-100 in the race, producing a time of 26:58.4.

Junior Tyler Scopelites (Litchfield, N.H.) followed with a time of 27:14.5 and classmate Patrick Kennedy (Milton, Mass.) was not far behind, finishing just 4.3 seconds behind. Senior Alex Horan (Clifton, Va.) navigated the course in 28:01.3 and junior Josh Nottebart (Pelham, N.H.) checked in at 28:06.7.

Juniors Adam Wong (Westminster, Mass.) and Chris Hogan (Plymouth, Mass.) finished with times of 28:20.1 and 28:23.5, respectively, to round out the varsity entrants for the Hawks.

Senior Tom Nelson (Gorham, Maine) led Saint Anselm in the junior varsity race (28:27.3), placing 38th out of 150 runners. Freshman Christian Wetzel (Pembroke, Mass.) also produced a sub-30 minute time, finishing in 29:59.7.

Saint Anselm is back at it on Friday, Sept. 30, heading to the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
