PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Head Coach Michael Sciamanna of the nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse team will lead the Division I/Division II North Region team at the 2022 USILA Senior All Star Game on Friday.
The game will begin at 7:30 p.m. on the campus of Providence College and will be available to be streamed online. Sciamanna will lead the 30-man North Region roster with the help of his two assistant coaches, Anthony Nardella and Cameron Hayward.
Saint Anselm has three student-athletes on the team as well, including graduate student Will Palmer (Concord, Mass.), senior CJ Hart (Reading, Mass.) and graduate student Sean Tomaszewski (Arlington, Mass.).
Earning Second Team All-America honors from the USILA on Thursday, Palmer started a career-high 16 games and tallied five goals and three assists for eight points (5-3=8). He has helped Saint Anselm post the nation's third-lowest opponent clear percentage (74.6%) and the league's second-best offensive clearing percentage (87.9%).
In goal for the Hawks, Hart has produced a 9.93 goals-against average with a 10-6 record in net. Setting a single-season personal best with 149 saves on the year, Hart ranks fourth in the NE10 in goals-against average and has logged at least eight saves in 11 games for Saint Anselm on the season. He produced five consecutive games with at least 11 saves from Mar. 12 through Apr. 2.
Ranked second in the NE10 in goals per game (2.75), Tomaszewski led the Hawks with 44 goals and produced 53 points of offense (44-9=53) and tied for the team lead with four man-up goals. Ranked eighth in the league in points per game (3.31), he struck for six or more points in a game on three occasions, producing a career-high five goals with two assists against Southern New Hampshire on Mar. 12.
The winningest coach in the history of the Saint Anselm men's lacrosse program, Sciamanna inherited a team that posted a 2-11 record in 2015 and transformed its fortunes. Ranked both regionally and nationally throughout his tenure on the Hilltop, he has produced a 60-32 (.652) career record across seven seasons.
A long-time assistant alongside Sciamanna, Nardella serves as the team's defensive coordinator. The Hawks have regularly ranked among the nation's top defensive outfits in his career, helping Saint Anselm to three NE10 championship games (2018, 2021, 2022) and two NCAA postseason appearances (2021, 2022).
Hayward completed his third season with Sciamanna in 2022 and since joining the squad, Saint Anselm has compiled a 26-8 (.765) record. A standout goaltender from Mount Ida, he has worked with the Hawks backstops – since arriving on campus, Saint Anselm has posted a collective 8.41 goals-against average in over 2,000 minutes of game play.
