VICTOR, N.Y. – The Saint Anselm College men's golf team placed 13th out of 23 teams in the NCAA East/Atlantic Regional Showcase, hosted by Le Moyne College from the Ravenwood Country Club on Monday.
Saint Anselm posted a day two score of 309, which was tied for 11th best in the field. The Hawks totaled 623 strokes across both rounds, concluding play just five shots out of a top-10 finish in the event.
Davis & Elkins College captured the team championship after firing a 294 on day two. Davis & Elkins was turned in a total of 595 shots between the two rounds, beating Charleston and California (Pa.), who tied for second, by 16 strokes. Franklin Pierce University finished as the top Northeast-10 Conference program with a team score of 615, good for seventh overall.
Jordan Hyland of Davis & Elkins finished as the event's individual winner, completing the 36-hole tournament at one-under par (143).
Alex Easthom of West Liberty finished just one shot back at even par after finishing as the day one leader.
Senior
James Henry (Reading, Mass.) led the Hawks on day two with a three-over 75, which brought his two-day total to 155. Henry finished in a tied for 44th for the event and registered the second best score for the Hawks in the tournament.
Junior
Drew Semons (Danvers, Mass.) was the Saint Anselm top finisher in the showcase after carding a 76 which was four-over in the second round. Semons turned in the second-lowest rounds Saint Anselm on both days. For the event, Semons finished in a tie for 33rd.
Junior
Lucas Dascoli (Everett, Mass.) finished his second round of 18 holes with a 78 which brings his two-day total to 157, putting him in a tie for 57th.
Senior
Cole English (Merrimac, Mass.) and freshman
Michael Papamechail (Danvers, Mass.) finished Monday with scores of 80 and 83. Papamechail was the Hawks fourth-place finisher with a two-day total of 160 while English completed the event at 162 strokes. Papamechail was tied for 77th individually while English is tied for 87th.
The Hawks will conclude their regular season on Monday, Apr. 18 and Tuesday, Apr. 19 at the Yellow Jackets Invitational, hosted by American International College. The event will be held at the Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Mass., the site of the NE10 Conference Championship in the spring of 2021.
