MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College baseball team is back in action on Saturday, Mar. 12, Sunday, Mar. 13, and Monday, Mar. 14 in a four-game series against Dominican (N.Y.) College.
All games will be played at the USA Baseball Training Complex in Cary, N.C. Saturday's first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. while Sunday's doubleheader starts at 12 p.m. and Monday kicks off at 11 a.m.

The Hawks took three of four games from Post University on Mar. 4, Mar. 5, and Mar. 6, including grabbing their first win of the season, a 4-2 win, on Mar. 4 over the Eagles. Heading into the trip to Cary, N.C., Saint Anselm is 3-6 on the season and will continue its spring break road trip, heading to Greensboro College on Wednesday, Mar. 16 and then heading to Slippery Rock University for a four-game set from Slippery Rock, Pa. on Friday, Mar. 18, Saturday, Mar. 19, and Sunday, Mar. 20.
The Chargers dropped their first two games of the season before grabbing a 4-1 win over Franklin Pierce University in the second game of a doubleheader on Feb. 26. More recently, Dominican dropped three of four to Pace University last weekend, posting a win in the first game of the series on Mar. 4, 9-4. The team is 2-6 heading into the series with the Hawks and will square off with Mount Olive on Tuesday, Mar. 15 and Wednesday, Mar. 16.
SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- Sophomore Nolan Elmore (Brentwood, N.H.) is batting .320 with two doubles, three home runs, and six runs scored while driving in seven runs. In the series with Post, Elmore was five-for-11 at the plate, launching two home runs while driving in four and scoring four.
- Freshman Ryan Scialabba (Cheshire, Conn.) has a .300 batting average, netting six hits in 20 at-bats. The freshman is tied for the team-lead with three doubles and has driven in three while scoring three runs. Scialabba went three-for-five at the plate in the final game against the Eagles, recording two doubles with one run batted in.
- Senior Kyle Maurice (Exeter, N.H.) ranks second on the Hawks with six runs batted in and with two long balls. Maurice launched a grand slam in the first inning of the Hawks' 15-7 win on Mar. 5. Maurice is batting .294 with a 1.097 OPS and a .647 slugging percentage.
- Through nine games this season, the Hawks have hit eight home runs and as a team are batting .210 entering the four game-series.
- Junior Dylan Bedder (New Providence, N.J.), sophomore Matthew Michel (Haverhill, Mass.), and freshman Adam Betty (Lowell, Mass.) picked up wins on the mound for Saint Anselm against the Eagles while junior Avery Mosseau (Bedford, N.H.) collected the save in the game one win.
- Bedder has started three games and holds a 3.68 earned-run average in 14.2 innings pitched. He has struck out 27 batters, limiting opponents to a .167 batting average.
- Michel, junior Travis MacMurdo (Tewksbury, Mass.), and freshman Harry Peters (Hull, Mass.) each have a 0.00 earned run average. Michel has made two appearances, one of them being a start, and holds a 1-0 record in seven innings on the mound.
- Defensively, the Hawks are operating at a .972 fielding percentage. The team has committed eight errors in 281 chances while turning six double plays. Junior Brady Doran (Greenville, S.C.) leads the team with a 1.000 fielding percentage on 25 chances. Classmate Mike Borrelli (Salisbury, Mass.) has committed just one error in a team-high 54 chances, good for a .981 fielding percentage.
SCOUTING DOMINICAN
- The Chargers are led offensively by Richard Paulino who is batting .429 on 12 hits in 28 at-bats. Paulino is tied for the team lead with two doubles and is the team leader with two home runs. He has crossed the plate eight times while driving in seven runs.
- Ethan Sarmiento, Benjamin Avila, Brian Sanders, Tyler Richman, and Shane Hewlette have all played in over six games for the Chargers with each student-athlete batting over .250.
- Hewlette has recorded the second most runs batted in for Dominican with six. He is also responsible for the lone triple on the squad this season.
- Robert Liriano leads the Chargers pitching staff with three appearances and one save. Jaden Diaz-Lambert, Justin Diaz, and Brendan Turton have drawn two starts each with Diaz-Lambert posting a 1.35 earned-run average in 6.2 inning pitched.
- Anthony Leak has made two appearances on the mound with one start. He leads the squad with 12 innings pitched and nine strikeouts. Gerald Kirchstetter, Christopher Fox, and Kennee Torres currently hold 0.00 earned-run averages.
- The Chargers defense has a .935 fielding percentage, committing 17 errors in 260 chances. Bobby Garbuio has made one error in 44 chances, good for a .977 percentage while Sarmiento has a 1.000 fielding percentage on 19 opportunities.
ALL-TIME vs. DOMINICAN
- The Hawks enjoy a 3-1 record against the Chargers all-time. Upon the conclusion of the four-game series, the teams will have doubled their all-time matchups to eight.
- The last time the programs met, the Hawks captured an 8-6 win on Mar. 11, 2012. With that win, Saint Anselm has won three consecutive games over Dominican.
- The matchup came on Mar. 12, 2011, resulting in a 3-1 win for Dominican but Saint Anselm posted a 1-0 win the following day and grabbed a 12-1 win on Mar. 10, 2012.
- All four meetings have been neutral site games played in Chester, N.Y.
