Men's cross country takes eighth at NE10 Championship

COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Saint Anselm College men's cross country team turned in an eighth place finish at Sunday's running of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship, hosted by Saint Michael's College.

The Hawks were eighth out of 13 programs in the 8K race, the team's finest finish since placing seventh out of 14 teams at the 2005 NE10 Championship, hosted by Bryant. Sophomore Steven Cormier (Reading, Mass.) led the Hawks with a time of 27:44.8, becoming the fourth top finisher for Saint Anselm this season.

Cormier finished one spot ahead of Tyler Scopelites (Litchfield, N.H.), who posted a 39th place finish with a time of 27:49.6. Freshman Neil Harrington (Melrose, Mass.) followed, checking in at 28:02.6. with Trevor Scopelites (Litchfield, N.H.) cracking the top-50 (28:09.9).

Junior Josh Nottebart (Pelham, N.H.) rounded out the scorers for Saint Anselm, finishing one second behind Scopelites, and freshman Andrew Keene (Kennebunk, Maine) produced a time of 28:14.0. Senior Alex Horan (Clifton, Va.) was the seventh Hawks harrier to finish, navigating the course in 28:22.8.

In total, 14 student-athletes competed for the Hawks in the race.

Saint Anselm will compete at the NCAA Division II East Region Championship, hosted by Adelphi University, on Saturday, Nov. 19.
