MANCHESTER, N.H. – The nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse team revealed its 2022 schedule on Monday. One of the top programs in NCAA Division II, the Hawks open the upcoming season on Sunday, Feb. 27 at Chestnut Hill.
The Hawks are ranked as the No. 11 team in NCAA Division II, according to the Nike/USA Lacrosse Division II Men's Top 20 poll revealed on Dec. 29. Saint Anselm finished the 2021 season as the No. 8 team in the country, according to the final United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's coaches' poll.
After its season-opening game against the reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champions, the Hawks host Georgian Court on Saturday, Mar. 5 at 11 a.m. from Grappone Stadium. Saint Anselm quickly jumps into NE10 play with a high-noon tilt at Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, Mar. 12.
The Hawks host the reigning NCAA Division II champions from Le Moyne on Saturday, Mar. 19 before hitting the road for back-to-back games against Adelphi and Wilmington (Del.) on Saturday, Mar. 26 and Wednesday, Mar. 30, respectively. Wilmington (Del.) is the reigning CACC runner-up, falling to Chestnut Hill in the league's title game.
Two games at home against Bentley and Franklin Pierce open the month of April and precede a road trip to both Saint Rose and American International. Two of the team's final three games will be played at Grappone Stadium, including back-to-back tilts against Saint Michael's and Pace on the Hilltop. The regular season concludes at Assumption on Tuesday, Apr. 26.
Saint Anselm made its first NCAA Division II postseason appearance in 2021, logging a 13-2 overall record while playing for a Northeast-10 Conference championship for just the second time (2018, 2021). The Hawks opened the year with 12 consecutive wins, giving the team 15 consecutive victories dating back to the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign.
The Hawks concluded the regular season with a perfect record in league play (10-0) and went on to make the team's first appearance at the NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse Championship, downing No. 5-ranked Seton Hill in First Round action for the program's first NCAA postseason win.
Saint Anselm's roster produced the nation's Ensign C. Markland Kelly Jr. Outstanding National Goalkeeper of the Year and four total USILA All-America selections. Nine student-athletes earned All-Region honors and two earned USILA Scholar All-America recognition for their efforts in the classroom.
