MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College baseball team will take on Franklin Pierce University on Saturday, May 8 in a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader to be played at Gill Stadium.
The Hawks own a 10-16 record so far this season and are looking to return to the winner's circle, having lost the past five games. The doubleheader will begin at 12 p.m.
Franklin Pierce, who began the season in the top-25 national poll from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, is receiving votes this week. The Ravens head into the weekend with a 17-7 overall record, winning two games against Saint Michael's on Thursday, May 6 by scores of 14-6 and 21-1. The Ravens own a 14-6 record against NE10 opponents.
There will be no spectators of any kind permitted to attend Saturday's games.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- In 2021, Saint Anselm batters have combined to slug 39 home runs on the season, the second-most in team history. The Hawks are just six home runs shy of the all-time team record (45, 2001).
- Last time out for the Hawks was on May 2 as the Hawks built six different leads across two games, including their largest advantage of 11-5 in game two, but the Hawks were walked-off in both ends of the doubleheaders against Stonehill College.
- The Hawks offense was powered by four home runs on May and saw two hit by junior Kyle Maurice (Exeter, N.H.) – he became the first NE10 student-athlete in 2021 to reach 10 home runs on the season. Maurice also becomes just the fifth student-athlete in team history to reach double-digit home runs in a single season.
- Sophomore Brady Doran (Stony Brook, N.Y.) is right behind Maurice in the NE10 home run category, stroking eight on the season. Doran is riding a 12-game hitting streak, tying for the longest by a Hawks student-athlete in 2021.
- Junior Mike Pierro (North Andover, Mass.) was the offensive star for Saint Anselm in the most recent Saint Michael's four-game series, slugging four home runs and batting .500 with seven hits in 14 at-bats. He is currently riding a nine-game hitting streak, including three against the Purple Knights on Apr. 23.
- Sophomore Dylan Bedder (New Providence, N.J.) leads the Hawks pitching staff, making six appearances and striking out 46 batters in just 28 innings of work. He owns a 2-4 record, winning his season debut against American International and striking out at least five batters in each of his games to date.
- Senior Will Conaton (Windham, N.H.) heads into the final weekend of the regular season with 48 strikeouts, ranking third in the conference.
FRANKLIN PIERCE FACTS
- Franklin Pierce has six student-athletes with at least 20 runs batted in on the season, with all ranking in the top eight in the NE10 behind Maurice from Saint Anselm. Senior Jonel Ozuna has 40 runs batted in despite logging just 26 hits, but 18 of those have gone for extra bases.
- Dylan Jones leads Franklin Pierce with 41 hits in 98 at-bats on the season, batting .418 in the limited action. Randy Flores follows his teammate, posting 30 hits on the season, including nine of them coming off doubles.
- Seb Gruszecki has assumed the lion's share of work for the Ravens, throwing a team-leading 28.2 innings and allowing just 12 earned runs across five straight while also owning a 3-0 record. He is the only Ravens pitcher to have recorded a complete game in 2021.
- Head Coach Mike Chambers is a 2006 graduate of Franklin Pierce and remains the Ravens' all-time leader in doubles with 70 to his credit. He has racked up 111 wins in just five seasons at the helm of the Franklin Pierce program, winning at least 29 games in his first three seasons.
