Saint Anselm College

HOOKSETT, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's soccer team fell to Southern New Hampshire University, 3-0, in Northeast 10 Conference action on Wednesday at Mark A. Ouellette Stadium.

The Hawks held the Penmen scoreless through the opening 45 minutes before SNHU scored twice in the opening four minutes of the second half. Saint Anselm generated all six of its shots after halftime, including two shots on goal.

• Graduate goalkeeper David Hood made five saves for the Hawks, including four in the first half, as Saint Anselm kept Southern New Hampshire off the scoreboard through the opening 45 minutes.
• Junior Brian Jones led Saint Anselm with two shots, while sophomore Luke Delia and senior Tyler Telge each registered a shot on goal.
• Saint Anselm produced all six of its shots in the second half after being held without an attempt in the opening period. The Hawks also earned both of their corner kicks after halftime.
• The Hawks limited SNHU to five shots in the second half after the Penmen recorded 12 attempts in the opening 45 minutes.
• Southern New Hampshire finished with a 17-6 advantage in shots and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.

Hood was tested early, making his first save just over two minutes into the contest on a shot from Gabriel Castro. SNHU continued to apply pressure in the opening half, but the Hawks kept the game scoreless.

The Penmen nearly broke through in the 20th minute when Miguel Gimeno sent an attempt off the crossbar. Hood later made three saves to help Saint Anselm carry a scoreless tie into halftime.

Southern New Hampshire opened the scoring just 38 seconds into the second half. Gabri Barroso sent a cross to Eduard Fandunyan, who headed home the game's first goal to give the Penmen a 1-0 advantage.

The Penmen doubled their lead in the 49th minute when Alex Pons scored off a pass from Alejo Caceres.

Jones generated the Hawks' first shot of the match in the 55th minute, sending an attempt over the crossbar.

Junior Chance Prouty followed with an attempt in the 70th minute after Saint Anselm earned its first corner kick of the match.

Delia put the Hawks' first shot on goal in the 77th minute, forcing Alvaro Garcia to make a save on an attempt toward the bottom-left corner. The chance led directly into Saint Anselm's second corner kick.

Southern New Hampshire added its third goal in the 86th minute on a strike from Vigo Frank.

Hood made one final save in the 88th minute before freshman Kaiden Martin recorded the Hawks' final attempt of the night.
