MANCHESTER, N.H. – Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey head coach Jessica Salisbury has announced the hiring of Lea Gaspar as an assistant coach for the program.

"Great teams are built by great people, and I'm excited to welcome our new assistant coach to the Saint Anselm College family," said Salisbury. "Saint Anselm is a special place built on tradition, community, and a commitment to excellence, and I'm confident Lea will be a tremendous addition to our staff. Her knowledge, energy, and passion will make our team better every day. I'm looking forward to working together, building something special, and continuing to represent the Hawks with pride."

Gaspar joins the Hawks after spending the 2025-26 season as an assistant coach with the Hopkinton High School girls ice hockey program in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. In that role, Gaspar worked primarily with the team's defense while assisting with all aspects of the varsity program throughout the season.

"I am extremely excited for the opportunity to join the Saint Anselm women's ice hockey program as an assistant coach," said Gaspar. "Saint Anselm has established an impressive culture of excellence, and I am thrilled to be a part of it. I look forward to working alongside the coaching staff and student-athletes, helping them reach their goals and contributing to the continued growth and success of the program. I am excited for what lies ahead and to help build upon the strong foundation that has been established at Saint Anselm."

Gaspar brings five years of coaching experience to the Hilltop, including serving as a coach and coordinator with WC Swans Hockey since 2020. Working with players ranging from ages 10 to 20, Gaspar has served as both a head and assistant coach while leading practices, tryouts, evaluations and skill sessions. She has also assisted with the organization and operation of camps and worked directly with players on their development, goals and performance.

Her additional coaching experience includes times as an assistant coach with Lady Flames Hockey and as a coach with CAN/AM Hockey. With the Lady Flames, Gaspar worked with the U16 team and assisted with practices, bench management and the development of practice and game plans. At CAN/AM Hockey, she coached players ages 12 to 16 during individual and small-group ice sessions while providing evaluations and feedback.

A student-athlete at Worcester State University, Gaspar served as a captain of the women's ice hockey team and earned Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) First Team All-Conference honors as a defender. She was also a member of Worcester State's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Honors College. Gaspar graduated from Worcester State in May of 2026 with a Bachelor's degree in Business and a minor in public health.
