Seven Men’s Lacrosse Student-Athletes Earn USILA All-North Region Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Seven members of the Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse team have earned United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-North Region honors, as the organization announced on Tuesday.

Senior Quinn Gannon and sophomore Matt Lemay led the Hawks with First Team All-North Region selections, highlighting the group. Sophomore Ben Turpin, senior Brendan Crowley, and sophomore Johnny Lucas each earned Second Team honors, while sophomore Eddie O'Brien was named to the Third Team. Junior Jake Klepacki rounded out the Saint Anselm honorees, collecting Honorable Mention recognition.

Gannon, a USA Lacrosse Magazine First Team All-American and the Northeast 10 Conference (NE10) Faceoff Specialist of the year, started all 14 games, helping guide the Hawks back to the NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse Championship. The senior also cemented his place in the Saint Anselm record book during the season, finishing his career as the program's all-time leader in ground balls with 358 to his credit. Gannon was also selected to the All-Northeast 10 Conference (NE10) First Team.

Gannon ranked second in the nation in faceoff winning percentage (.702) and third nationally in ground balls per game (9.86). He totaled 138 ground balls on the year, posting double-digit efforts in 10 games and recording a season-high 18 ground balls in a win at Assumption University on March 28. Gannon also contributed offensively with three points on two goals and one assist, while winning 207 faceoffs over the course of the season.

Lemay produced 54 points on 33 goals and 21 assists while recording multiple points in all 14 games played as an attackman. Lemay, who was a Second Team All-America selection by USA Lacrosse Magazine along with a First Team All-NE10 selection, recorded six games with at least five points, including a six-point effort with three goals and three assists at Bentley University on March 4, and a five-goal performance against Pace University on April 18. He also tallied two game-winning goals on the season.

Turpin put together a breakout sophomore campaign at attack in which he totaled 63 points on 47 goals and 16 assists while posting eight or more points in three contests, including a pair of nine-point performances against Franklin Pierce University on Mar. 21 and Assumption University on Mar. 28. Along with his Second Team All-Region nod, he was honored as a USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America Honorable Mention along with an All-NE10 Second Team selection.

Crowley, a short-stick defensive midfielder, notched 31 ground balls and five caused turnovers over 14 contests to earn a Second Team selection. Crowley collected multiple ground balls in 10 games, highlighted by a season-high five against Saint Michael's College on April 1. Additionally, he was named to the All-America Third Team by USA Lacrosse Magazine and the All-NE10 Second Team.

Lucas rounded out the All-Region Second Team honorees thanks to a stellar season on defense for the Hawks. He posted 22 ground balls and nine caused turnovers over 14 games, along with one goal and two assists. He was also named to the All-NE10 Second Team.

O'Brien, a USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America Honorable Mention selection, was named to the Third Team All-Region as a midfielder. Over 14 games played, he produced 26 points on 21 goals and five assists, registering a point in 13 of his 14 appearances. He produced hat tricks against Bentley on March 4 and Franklin Pierce on March 21. O'Brien was also selected to the All-NE10 Second Team.

Klepacki was named an All-Region Honorable Mention following a solid campaign on defense for the Hawks. He registered 31 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers over 14 contests and was named to the All-NE10 Third Team. He posted four ground balls on two occasions and capped the season off with a season-high six ground balls against Saint Michael's College in the NCAA Tournament.
