MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College baseball team erased an early eight-run deficit to defeat Pace University, 14-9, in Northeast 10 Conference play on Tuesday afternoon at Sullivan Park.

Highlights
Sophomore Jackson Powers went 3-for-6 at the plate, recording two doubles, four RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base. His bases-clearing double in the eighth inning helped seal the comeback victory for the Hawks.
Junior Mavrick Bourdeau finished 2-for-5 with a three-RBI double, scored three runs, and added one hit by pitch in the win.
Sophomore George Slauson posted a 3-for-5 performance with one walk, one RBI, and one run scored.
Sophomore Xavier Gonzalez added two RBI, including the go-ahead run in the fourth inning, while scoring once.
Freshman Jake Smith launched a solo home run, drove in two runs, scored three times, and drew three walks.
Freshman Brayden Hickman earned the win in relief, pitching three innings while allowing just one run on three hits and three walks with two strikeouts.
Sophomore Jake Schoenberg closed the game with two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out one.
How it Happened
Pace jumped out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning before adding six more in the second to take an 8-0 advantage.
Saint Anselm answered with six runs in the bottom of the second. Gonzalez and Smith each drove in runs before Bourdeau delivered a three-run double to right center. Powers followed with an RBI single to bring the Hawks within two at 8-6 going into the third.
Smith led off the third inning with a solo home run to cut the deficit to one.
The Hawks took their first lead of the day in the fourth inning as Slauson delivered the game-tying RBI single before Gonzalez added an RBI groundout to make it 9-8.
Saint Anselm added an insurance run in the seventh when Gonzalez reached on a fielding error, allowing sophomore Gavin Rigney to score and extend the lead to 10-8.
Pace pulled within one in the eighth with a solo home run, but the Hawks answered right back in the bottom half. Powers delivered a three-RBI double and came around to score on the play, helping Saint Anselm pull away for the 14-9 victory.

The Hawks take on Saint Michael's University in Colchester, Vermont for their final weekend series of the regular season. Saint Anselm will play double-headers on both Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3 at the Doc Jacobs Baseball Field.
