How it Happened
A sacrifice fly off the bat of Powers in the top of the first allowed Kaluza to score the game's first run. Southern New Hampshire responded with a four-run bottom of the frame to claim a 4-1 advantage.
Saint Anselm scored five runs in the top of the second, highlighted by Slauson's first career grand slam, to put the Hawks in front, 6-4.
After SNHU cut the deficit to one run in the third, Powers launched a three-run homer over the fence in right to make it a four-run lead for the Hawks in the top of the fourth.
The Penmen would rally over the fifth and sixth innings, scoring five times to make it 10-9 in favor of the hosts.
Saint Anselm tied the score in the seventh as sophomore Peter Fischer scored on a wild pitch before Howrigan knocked a single through the right side to give the Hawks an 11-10 edge. The Penmen scored twice in the bottom half to regain their lead.
Trailing 12-11 in the ninth, Leighton scored on a wild pitch which to tie the game before Bourdeau sent a single to right center, scoring sophomore Gavin Rigney, who advanced to second on the wild pitch, to take a 13-12 lead into the bottom half.
SNHU's Kyle Lavigne would hit his second home run in as many innings, this time a two-run homer, to walk-it-off for the Penmen.
