The Owls tied the score at 3-3 in the third on a two-run homer from Brennan Staubley.
In the fifth, Southern Connecticut State took the lead back for good as Matt Scalia pushed a two-RBI single up the middle.

How it Happened
The Owls got out to a 1-0 lead with a sacrifice fly from Chacho in the first. Saint Anselm quickly responded by putting up a four-spot in the bottom half of the frame with Powers, Gonzalez, and Fischer each recorded RBI singles in the frame to put the Hawks up by three runs.
After Mederos struck out the side in the top half, Kaluza crossed the plate on a wild pitch and Slauson sent a pitch over the fence in right for a two-run homer to increase the Hawks' lead to 7-1 in the second.
Mederos sat the Owls batters down in order, striking out the side for the second consecutive inning in the top of the third.
Saint Anselm scored once in the fourth off a Fischer sacrifice fly before a four-run fifth inning made it 12-1 in favor of the Hawks. In the top half, Mederos struck out two batters in another 1-2-3 frame.
In the top of the sixth, Zaid Vohra notched a solo homer to make it 12-2, which would not be enough to extend the game past the seventh inning run rule as Mederos got a batter to ground into an inning-ending double play with runners on first and second, halting the Owls' rally attempt.
MacDonald allowed one baserunner in the top of the seventh as he secured two groundouts and a fly out to seal the victory.
