WATERBURY, Conn. – Sophomore guard
Will Davies of the Saint Anselm College men's basketball team has been named the Division II Conference Commissioners' Associate (D2 CCA) East Region Player of the Year, the organization announced on Thursday.
Davies, who was just named Northeast 10 Conference Player of the Year, earns another distinction, becoming the first Hawk in program history to be named D2 CCA East Region Player of the Year. The East region includes teams from the Northeast 10, East Coast Conference (ECC), and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).
Davies joins head coach
Chris Santo '15 as one of 13 All-East Region First Team selections in program history, with Santo accomplishing the feat in 2015. Davies becomes the first Hawk to earn First Team honors in the East Region since
Tyler Arbuckle '24 earned the distinction in 2023.
The sophomore from Saco, Maine, has helped lead the Hawks to a 23-7 record, a 14-4 mark in NE10 play, and the Hawks' 11th NE10 championship in program history en route to Saint Anselm's 27th trip to the NCAA Division II Championship. Davies is the engine behind the Hawks' high-scoring offense, leading the NE10 with 7.3 assists per game, the second-best mark in all of Division II, and his 219 assists this year rank seventh all-time in a single season by a Hawk.
Davies averages 13.8 points per game, the second-best mark on the team, while ranking 11th in the conference. Shooting at an efficient 52.7% clip from the field, Davies sits at eighth in the NE10 and second on Saint Anselm in field goal percentage. Davies has scored in double-figures in 19 straight games, totaling 25 double-digit scoring efforts out of his 30 starts this season.
Senior
Josh Morissette, who was an NE10 First Team All-Conference honoree this season, has been named to the D2 CCA All-East Region Second Team. Morissette is the 14th selection in Saint Anselm's history to earn All-East Region Second Team honors from D2 CCA, and the first since Arbuckle did so in 2024. Davies and Morissette become the first pair of teammates to make D2 CCA honors since Arbuckle and
Miles Tention '23 earned first and second team accolades in 2023.
Morissette is the Hawks' top scorer this season, averaging 17.8 points per game, tied for third-best in the conference. His 105 made threes are the most in the NE10 by a wide margin, knocking down 28 more than the next closest player. Morissette is shooting 45.1% from the field and 43.2% from long range, the third-best mark from deep in the conference.
Morissette leads the team with one 30-point game, 11 20-point games, and 26 double-digit scoring games. Morissette has tallied at least 10 points in 19 straight games, and at least 24 points in four straight games, as he was most recently awarded the NE10 Championship's Most Outstanding Player, averaging 26 points per game during Saint Anselm's title run. Morissette has gone 100-112 (89.3%) from the charity stripe, the second-best percentage in the NE10.
