MANCHESTER, N.H. – Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey head coach, Larry Rocha '79, recorded the 100th career victory at the helm of the Hawks' program on Friday night with a 7-2 victory over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast 10 Conference play at Sullivan Arena.
Highlights
- Rocha became just the third head coach in the program's 57-year history to reach the 100-win milestone, trailing only Ken Kuzyk (161) and Ed Seney (202).
- Six different skaters scored for the Hawks, led by freshman Sean Connolly with two goals, which marked the first multi-goal game of his career. Connolly led all skaters with eight shots on goal and tied classmate Sebastian Rogles and sophomore Hunter Hoffman with a team-high +2 on-ice rating.
- Seniors Cam Collins and Luke Linart led the way offensively with four points each, boosted by the duo each passing out three helpers.
- Sophomores Brendan Manning and Keaton Richards each dominated at the dot, with Manning going 11-for-15 (73.3%) and Richards winning 8-of-12 (66.7%).
- Hoffman and freshman Alec O'Connor each recorded two blocked shots, a team-best.
- Cam Carroll made 19 stops in the ninth victory of his junior season, eclipsing 2,000 career saves in the process to sit fourth all-time in program history.
- Saint Anselm outshot the Ravens, 58-21, while going 38-for-62 (61.3%) on faceoffs.
- The Hawks went 2-for-4 (50.0%) on the power play, while their penalty-killers blanked Franklin Pierce on both of its extra-man opportunities.
- Saint Anselm has won its last two games by five goals each, scoring at least six goals in each victory.
- The Hawks are now 37-7-1 in the all-time series against the Ravens, which dates back to the 2003-04 season.
How it Happened
Collins scored the game's first goal just 5:01 into the opening period after creating a Franklin Pierce turnover at the blue and finishing a feed from Linart to make it 1-0. Richards found the back of the net from in tight 33 seconds later to boost Saint Anselm's advantage to two goals. The Hawks would strike again, this time with less than a minute to play in the frame, as Linart scored his fourth goal in as many games on a one-timer, making it 3-0 at the first intermission.
Connolly scored his first goal of the contest 9:10 into the second period on the power play, tucking in a near-side wrist shot from the goal line to increase the Hawks' lead to four goals. The Ravens snapped the Saint Anselm streak at the 12:34 mark of the period to make it a three-goal game. The Hawks would respond with two additional goals, coming in the span of 1:11, with Rogles and classmate Isac Martins each scoring to make it 6-1 heading into the third.
Franklin Pierce struck first in the final period with a goal coming off an offensive-zone faceoff. Saint Anselm took advantage of a five-minute power play late in the period as Connolly scored his second goal of the night with 4:48 left in regulation to seal the 7-2 victory.

Saint Anselm (9-11-4, 8-5-2 NE10) and Franklin Pierce (9-14-0, 7-8-0 NE10) will square off in the season-series finale on Saturday, Feb. 7 with a 3:00 p.m. puck drop scheduled in Manchester. The Hawks have a chance to secure a season-series victory over the Ravens with a win.
