Rett, Burns, and Sheriff Break Program Records at Tufts Cupid Challenge

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Saint Anselm Track and Field team traveled to Tufts University to compete in the Tufts Cupid Challenge this weekend. The Hawks had an impressive showing, breaking several program records, highlighted by a first-place finish from sophomore Leo Sheriff.
 
Men's Field
  • Sophomore Colin Burns put up an outstanding performance, throwing 16.42 in the men's weight throw, setting a new PR, earning a fifth-place finish and setting a new program record for the Hawks. 
  • Sophomore Jared Ferschke also had an impressive performance in the weight throw, reaching a new PR at 13.91.  
  • Freshman Aidan Ryan recorded a new PR, reaching 14.08 in shot put.  
Men's Track
  • Sheriff earned a first-place finish in the 60m hurdles, finishing at 8.19 and setting a program record.  
  • Junior Jaidin Haynes timed 6.96 in the 60m, achieving a fifth-place finish on Saturday. 
  • Junior Taishaun Jackson had an impressive second-place finish in the 60m, setting a new PR at 7.21. 
Women's Field
  • Senior Brianne Rett broke yet another program record, this time in shot put, throwing 11.98m and earning a fifth-place finish. 
  • Junior Sophia Morin set a new personal record in the weight throw, tossing 13.63m.  
  • Freshman Sarah Allen had the best showing of her career, achieving a new PR at 4.76m in the long jump.  
  • Freshman Julia Guanci set a new PR in the women's triple jump, reaching 9.50m.  
Women's Track
  • Three Hawks recorded PRs in the 60m hurdles, including freshman Emily Seals at 10.21, junior Meghan Bresch clocking in at 11.37, and junior Lauren Flamand timing in at 11.97 
  • Freshman Samantha DiFonte came in tenth-place in the 60m race, setting a new PR at 8.23. 
  • Allen had another outstanding showing on Saturday in the 60m dash, racing 8.47 and finishing third-place.  
  • Freshman Jaelyn Nialetz earned a fourth-place finish in the 400m, timing in at 1:04.36. 
 
Up Next
The Hawks will compete in the Northeast 10 Conference Championship at the TRACK at New Balance on Thursday, Feb. 19 and Friday, Feb. 20.
