How it Happened
Assumption opened the scoring on the man advantage 7:58 into the first period, as Jake Russell connected with Jonathan Surrette. Kelly answered the call for Saint Anselm with 42 seconds remaining in the opening period to level the contest, 1-1.
Just 4:46 into the second period, Kelly flipped the script on the penalty kill and found twine for the second time in the contest, giving the Hawks their first lead of the evening.
Saint Anselm scored twice in the third period. Alberti lit the lamp off feeds from Collins and senior Luke Linart to take a 3-1 lead. Collins made it 4-1 at 14:13, controlling a bouncing puck from Linart and finishing with a backhander to increase the Hawks' advantage to three. The Greyhounds trimmed the deficit back to two as Kyle LoNigro tuck one in. Saint Anselm rounded out the scoring with 45 seconds remaining, as sophomores Justin Tremblay and John Myers set up Manning on the powerplay to seal the 5-2 victory.
