How it Happened

The Penmen took an early 11-4 lead after making their first four shot attempts. SNHU continued to add on to its lead, pushing it to nine, 18-9, but with his 10th point of the half, Davies brought the Hawks back within one, 22-21. After a pair of baskets from Ristic and Griffin, Davies gave the Hawks their first lead of the game, 28-27, with 4:15 remaining in the half.

The score remained a one-point game at the half, with Southern New Hampshire leading Saint Anselm, 36-35. The second half was a back-and-forth affair for the first 10 minutes of action, but a trio of long-range makes from the Penmen sparked a 13-5 run as SNHU went back up by seven, 58-51. The Hawks quickly responded as a three-pointer from Griffin capped off a 9-2 run to tie the score at 60-60 with just over five minutes remaining.

The Hawks needed a pair of threes from Morissette to stay in the game as the Penmen held on to a one-possession lead with time ticking away. Davies played hero at the buzzer, knocking down a stepback three as the buzzer sounded to send the game to overtime at 70-70.

The Hawks established a three-point lead on the first possession of OT thanks to an Onyia three-pointer, and Ristic made it a six-point game, 80-74, with a three-pointer of his own. SNHU cut the Saint Anselm lead to two, 80-78, but the Hawks finished the game 7-7 from the free throw line to put the game out of reach and secure the win, 87-81.
