NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Saint Anselm College women's soccer freshman Bianca Maciel has been named the Northeast 10 Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Maciel earned the honor after recording her first collegiate points in the Hawks' 5-3 comeback victory over Pace University on Saturday. The Hamden, Conn., native tallied two goals and an assist for a career-high five points, helping Saint Anselm overcome an early 3-0 deficit.
The freshman assisted on Madison Botta's goal just 31 seconds into the second half before scoring her first collegiate goal in the 47th minute to give the Hawks a 4-3 lead. Maciel added her second goal in the 51st minute, which stood as the game-winner.
Maciel finished the contest with four shots, including three on goal. Through 10 appearances this season, she has recorded two goals, one assist and five points.
Maciel and the Hawks are back in action when they travel to Assumption University on Wednesday (10/14) for a 4 p.m. Northeast 10 Conference matchup.
