How it Happened

Adelphi converted on four of its first six shot attempts as the Panthers took an early 9-2 lead, but Davies scored the first eight points of the game for the Hawks, and Onyia checked in off the bench, scoring eight more, as Saint Anselm took a 22-20 lead.

Adelphi responded quickly to retake the lead, 30-24, and after increasing the lead to seven, 37-30, Saint Anselm used a Morissette three and a Davies pull-up jumper to cut it to a one-possession game, 37-35. The final bucket of the half went to Adelphi as the Panthers led 39-35 at the break.

An 8-4 run to start the second half for the Hawks tied the score at 43-43, but Adelphi answered with a 9-0 scoring burst to go back up by nine, 52-43. Saint Anselm rallied again, tying things up at 53-53, eventually taking a five-point edge, 69-64, after Onyia rattled off 10 points during the Hawks' run.

Adelphi closed the gap and forced overtime, 71-71, after 40 minutes of action. The first four points of overtime went to the Panthers, but Davies converted on a three-point play to make it 75-74. Morissette sank what would be the game-winning shot on a turnaround jumper in the mid-range with 26 seconds left as the Hawks held on for the win, 77-75.
