First-Place Finishes from Ofori, Simonds, Rett at the RCC Open this Friday

BOSTON – Sophomore Petrina Ofori, junior Finleigh Simonds, and senior Brianne Rett of the Saint Anselm College track teams all took home first-place finishes at the RCC Tigers Open hosted by Roxbury Community College at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center on Friday. 
 
Men's Track Events
  • Sophomore Leo Sheriff and freshman Gavin Lombara took home third and fourth place, separated by only one-thousandth of a second, recording 8.612 and 8.613, respectively, in the 60m hurdles.  
  • Lombara recorded a new PR in the 60m at 7.00 recorded a new PR in the 60m at 7.00, posting a second-place finish, followed by sophomore Joseph D'Angelo, who took third place, clocking in at 7.12. 
  • Freshman Nolan Finn recorded his best time of the season in the mile run, posting a time of 4:53.79. 
  • Sophomore Sam Scala recorded his best time this season in the 400m, posting a time of 52.57, closely followed by junior Brady Ashwho finished in 52.58. 
  • Freshman Gavin Carey took home third place while placing his best time of the season in the 800m, crossing the line at 2:02.28.  
  • D'Angelo took home a close second place with a time of 23.07 in the 200m, followed by junior Stephen Quinn, finishing at 23.17. 
Men's Field Events
  • Sophomore Colin Burns took home second place in the men's weight throw, hitting 15.32m. 
  • Freshman Aidan Ryan recorded a 13.90m throw in shot put, earning a fifth place finish. 
Women's Track Events
  • Sophomore Petrina Ofori earned a first place finish in 60m hurdles, recording a time of 9.32.  
  • The Hawks had a strong showing in the women's 800m with junior Finleigh Simonds finishing in first with a time of 2:27.75, followed by freshman Brenna Woodbury, timing in at 2:32.92, followed by sophomorErica Korowski, recording a PR and clocking in at 2:35.56.  
  • Freshman Sarah Allen reached a new PR in the 200m, running a 28.24, closely followed by DiFonte who crossed the line at 28.28. 
Women's Field Events
  • Junior Ava Houle had a strong showing in the long jump, reaching 5.13m. 
  • Senior Brianne Rett took home two first place finishes in weight throw and shot-put, reaching 13.87m in weight throw and setting her best distance this season in shot-put hitting 11.77m.  
  • Freshman Greta Hartung recorded a PR in high jump, clearing 1.49m. 
  • Sophomore Tija Dilba and junior Chloe Lawrence both recorded their best performance of the season in pole vault, reaching 2.75 and 2.45, respectively.

The Saint Anselm men's track & field team will close out its weekend competing in the second day of competition at the John Thomas Terrier Classic on the campus of Boston University at the BU Track & Tennis Center with events beginning at 10 a.m.
