How it Happened
Assumption scored twice in the first period to jump out to an early lead before senior captain Luke Linart got the Hawks on the board, finishing a feed from freshman Nolan King, to cut the deficit to one heading into the intermission.
Both teams traded goals in the second, with Assumption's Jonathan Surrette scoring his second goal of the game 8:46 into the period to make it 3-1 before freshman Sean Connolly struck three minutes later.
With 6:08 to play in the third, trailing 3-2, Saint Anselm sophomore Brendan Manning buried a pass from classmate Justin Tremblay to knot the score and force a sudden-death overtime.
The Greyhounds outshot the Hawks, 3-1, in the five minute 3-on-3 segment, but neither team was able to break the deadlock.
