Three Double-Doubles Fuel Volleyball’s Five-Set Win Over Post

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's volleyball team improved to 6-4 on the season, defeating Post University (10-2, 1-0 CACC) in five sets, as three Hawks recorded double-doubles in the non-conference matchup at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium on Saturday.

Highlights
  • Five Hawks recorded 10+ digs in an excellent defensive showing on Saturday, with junior Hollyn Frano leading the team with 17 kills and 17 points on a .310 attack percentage, to go along with 12 digs and two assists as she notched her fourth double-double of the season.
  • Sophomore Taylor Lacerda had 16 points on 13 kills and three service aces with 15 digs and three assists for her fourth double-double on the year.
  • Freshman Mckenna O'Connell tallied her team-leading seventh double-double of the season with 44 assists, 13 digs, and a season-high eight kills with a .444 attack percentage.
  • The Hawks have won five straight matches against the Eagles, improving to 10-5 all-time against Post.
  • Junior Miia Dembski had a career day for the Hawks, recording 11 kills with four block assists, scoring 13 points, all career-highs for the middle blocker.
SET 1 | The beginning of the first set was back-and-forth, but three attack errors from Post gave way to a Saint Anselm run as the Hawks went up 14-7. Saint A's led the rest of the way in the first set with a pair of kills from Frano and two service errors from the Eagles, giving the Hawks a 25-23 set win.
 
SET 2 | Post controlled the second set early on, leading 12-2. The Hawks began to rally, scoring six straight points to chip away at the lead, 20-15. A late 5-0 scoring outburst from the Hawks made the score 24-21, but a kill from the Eagles gave them the win to tie the match, 1-1.
 
SET 3 | Two kills from both Dembski and Lacerda sparked an early lead for Saint Anselm, with Lacerda ending the set with five kills and Dembski notching four. Late kills from Frano, Lacerda, and O'Connell put the set away for the Hawks, winning 25-17.
 
SET 4 | Post scored the first three points of the fourth set and led for the entirety of the frame, using an 8-0 outburst to give the Eagles a 16-6 advantage. The Hawks responded with a 10-3 run, but Post put the set away, tying the match at 2-2 with a 25-18 set win.
 
SET 5 | Despite the Eagles taking a 3-1 lead in the decisive fifth set, the Hawks responded as Frano led the charge with a pair of kills that gave Saint Anslem a 4-3 lead. Three kills from Lacerda and a kill apiece for O'Connell and Dembski put the Hawks ahead by four, 10-6. The Eagles tallied the next three points, but Saint A's put the match away with five straight scores, winning the match on a kill from O'Connell.
