RINDGE, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's volleyball team dropped a five-set non-conference contest at Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday night at The Fieldhouse.
Franklin Pierce 3, Saint Anselm 2 (25-22, 25-22, 22-25, 21-25, 6-15)
Highlights
SET 1 | After a back-and-forth opening frame, the Hawks took a 21-18 lead to force the hosts into a timeout. The Ravens cut the deficit to one point at 23-22 but two straight kills from Etta Rocco and Taylor Lacerda gave Saint Anselm a 1-0 lead.
SET 2 | Back-to-back aces by Skylar Ryan gave the Hawks a 22-20 lead in the second set, followed up by a Rocco kill. After the Falcons struck twice to make it 23-22, freshman Mckenna O'Connell and junior Hollyn Frano sealed the set with consecutive kills to give the visitors a two-set lead.
SET 3 | Saint Anselm fell behind 11-6 and battled hard to take a 20-19 lead on a kill by freshman Peyton Elward. The Hawks would be outscored 6-3 to drop the set as the Ravens made it 2-1.
SET 4 | The Hawks jumped out to a 12-7 lead before a Franklin Pierce timeout slowed their momentum. The Ravens took their first lead at 15-14 and never let Saint Anselm regain their advantage, holding on for a 25-21 victory to even the match at 2-2.
SET 5 | Saint Anselm took a timeout trailing 5-1 early in the fifth and were unable to regroup as the Ravens cruised to a 15-6 victory to complete the reverse sweep.
