How it Happened

While having a stellar game defending the back line for the Hawks, sophomore Kaitlyn LeBrun recorded the first shot on goal of the game in the sixth minute, an attempt that Pace goalie Anna Fiore saved.

The first five shots on goal went to the Hawks until Swidorski turned away her first test of the game in the 25th minute, making a save to her left.

Muir got Saint Anselm on the board in the 40th minute after a pass from Patturelli found the senior charging into the box with a right-footed rocket that went sailing past the goalie to put the Hawks up, 1-0.

In the 57th minute, Schneider put a perfect pass into the box on a corner kick that Jerome leapt up and got her head on, capitalizing on the feed to put Saint Anselm ahead 2-0.

Pace scored in the 65th minute when a loose ball was just out of reach of Swidorski outside of the box, leading to a steal and score for Ava Viebrock.

The Saint Anselm defense held the Setters in check for the remainder of the game, securing the win in the Hawks' NE10 opener, 2-1.
