Moyce Earns First Win as Head Coach in 5-0 Shutout over Post

MANCHESTER, N.H.  – Saint Anselm College women's soccer head coach Lee Moyce earned his first head coaching win in the Hawks' season opener, 5-0, over Post University at Melucci Field on Wednesday.

Highlights
  • Moyce is now 1-0-0 in his head coaching career as Saint Anselm women's soccer wins its season opener over Post for the second season in a row. The Hawks are now 3-0-0 against the Eagles all-time.
  • Wednesday's 5-0 win was the largest margin of victory for the Hawks since last year's 5-0 win at Assumption.
  • Junior Camryn Doyle and freshman Addison Jerome both led Saint Anselm with one goal and one assist apiece for three points. Doyle's goal marked the second of her career and her third career assist.
  • Sophomores Kate Crowley and Meghan Deneen also netted goals in the win, with Crowley recording her first career points and Deneen scoring the second goal of her career.
  • The Hawks outshot the Eagles 47 to five, including 22 to one in shots on net. Saint Anselm took 14 corner kicks while Post was held to zero.
  • Sophomore Samantha Swidorski improved to 1-0-0 in net on the season, making one save in the shutout.
How it Happened
The first score of the game came in the 11th minute when sophomore Amarys Jimenez made a push down the left side of the field, sending a cross into the box that deflected off a Post defender and into the net for an own goal.

Saint Anselm continued to put pressure on the Eagles, with Crowley collecting a misplay in the box by a Post defender and putting a right-footed shot over the outstretched arms of the goalkeeper.

Jerome checked into the game in the 29th minute and scored just four minutes into her collegiate career, rocketing a right-footed shot from the edge of the box past the goalie to make the score 3-0.

Deneen extended the lead to four goals in the 36th minute, sneaking a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner of the net from outside the 18-yard box.

The game remained scoreless for the rest of the first half, and Post notched their first shot on goal in the 69th minute, but Swidorski stood tall and turned the goal away.

Saint Anselm scored its fifth and final goal of the match in the 85th minute, with Doyle getting up off the grass and putting a shot on net from inside the goalie box that found the back of the net.
