MANCHESTER, N.H. – Saint Anselm College has learned that former men's basketball standout and Hall of Fame inductee, Myles Dorch '64, passed away on June 7, 2025.
Over Dorch's time at Saint Anselm College, the team saw tremendous success as it compiled a 60-22 record and earned an appearance in the NCAA College Division Regionals following his sophomore season. Individually, Dorch produced an impressive 1,158 points and 915 rebounds.
Following his junior season, he earned All-New England recognition. As a captain of the team in his senior season, Dorch was named a Catholic College All-American following the 1963-64 season.
Dorch and his co-captain from the 1963-64 season, Anthony Greer '64, were trailblazers with the program as two of the first Black athletes on the team. The two were classmates and teammates who became lifelong friends. Before they were teammates, the pair competed against one another in the New York Catholic High School Association before landing at Saint Anselm in the fall of 1960.
"We were the first Black basketball players to integrate Saint Anselm, which was a historical feat in itself," said Greer when discussing their time as teammates. Both Dorch and Greer can be found under several categories in the program's record book, including Dorch's spot at third all-time in rebounding.
Following his graduation, Dorch, a native of the Bronx, N.Y., went on to collaborate on projects and programs that supported the athletic, educational, and social development of thousands of at-risk youth in the South Bronx. He was often referred to by family and friends as "The Mayor of the Bronx" for his community service efforts. In May of 2023, he was presented with the Community Service Award by the Key Women of America, Inc., Concourse Village Chapter.
For his dedication to the game, as well as his athletic accomplishments, Dorch was inducted into the Bronx Basketball Hall of Fame's inaugural class in 2022. He also served on the Hall's selection committee until his passing.
