ALL-TIME SERIES:

There have been 20 meetings between Adelphi and Saint Anselm in the all-time series that dates back to 2008. Entering this season, the Panthers were undefeated with a 19-0 record against the Hawks.

Last year, Adelphi beat Saint Anselm three times (8-7 in the regular season, 10-9 in the NE10 Championship, and 12-9 in the NCAA Division II Semifinals) on their way to becoming NCAA Division II National Champions.

However, Saint Anselm avenged those losses with its first win over Adelphi in program history earlier this season, ending the Panthers' 25-game winning streak with a 9-6 victory on April 5th.

CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW:

Saint Anselm enters the title game with a perfect 12-0 overall record in 2025, including an 8-0 mark in conference play. That matches the 2021 team for the best start to a season in program history.

The Hawks claimed the NE10 Regular Season Championship a couple weeks ago. It was the program's first-ever outright regular season title and second overall.

On Saturday, Saint Anselm will make its fourth appearance in the NE10 Championship Game. They will aim to capture their first NE10 postseason title in program history.

This season, the Hawks are among the best defensive teams in the nation. They rank third in the NE10 and seventh in Division II in scoring defense with just 7.58 goals allowed per game. They have conceded just 91 goals on the year, the second-fewest total in the league, while taking the fewest penalties (22) by any NE10 team.

Saint Anselm is one of the NE10's best offensive teams, too. The Hawks rank third in the conference in goals per game (12.5) and second in assists per contest (7.75). Additionally, they have the fewest amount of turnovers in the league (196) to go along with the second-best faceoff percentage (.596).

Adelphi, the defending champions in both the NE10 and NCAA Division II, finished the regular season at 14-1 overall and 7-1 in conference play. This will be their eighth trip to the finals, where they have claimed five championships – the most among active NE10 members. The Panthers have won two of the last three NE10 titles, including last year's.

Adelphi dominates offensively, leading the NE10 in nearly every major category including scoring margin (12.0), scoring offense (17.6 goals per game), shot percentage (.358), clearing percentage (.900), and assists per game (11.47). They also boast the conference's top scoring defense, giving up just 5.60 goals per game.

KEY PLAYERS:

Saint Anselm saw 10 student-athletes receive NE10 All-Conference recognition, the second-most of any team.

Freshman Matt Lemay (Westminster, Mass.) was named NE10 Co-Rookie of the Year, becoming just the third player in program history and the first since 2021 to win the award. The attacker also earned a spot on the All-NE10 Second Team and the All-Rookie Team after leading the team with 28 goals and 38 points during an excellent regular season. The four-time NE10 Rookie of the Week now has 30 goals to his credit after this week's NE10 Semifinals. He also has 11 straight multi-goal games and six outings with three or more scores.

Senior Will Andrews (Cumberland, R.I.) and junior Colby Goodchild (Reading, Mass.) were selected to the All-NE10 First Team for the Hawks.

Andrews was a first-time All-Conference selection after matching his career-highs with 18 goals, five assists, and 23 points out of the midfield during the regular season. He recorded a hat trick in Wednesday's Semifinal win over Bentley.

Goodchild, now a three-time All-NE10 honoree, made the First Team for the first time. The short-stick defensive midfielder helped anchor Saint Anselm's defense that allowed just 91 goals in 12 games – the second-fewest in the conference – and committed the fewest penalties in the NE10. He also caused six turnovers and collected 18 ground balls.

Joining Lemay on the All-NE10 Second Team were juniors Chris Claflin (Newton, Mass.) and Quinn Gannon (Scituate, Mass.), and sophomore Finn Granara (Reading, Mass.).

Claflin, now a three-time All-NE10 selection, leads the team and ranks third in the conference with 28 assists this year. He also has 11 goals for a total of 39 points – second-most on the team – to go along with career highs of six caused turnovers and 25 ground balls.

Gannon received All-NE10 honors for the first time after a breakout season as the team's top faceoff specialist. In nine regular season games, he won 100 faceoffs of 152 attempts (.658), the second-best percentage in the NE10, and also led the team with 66 ground balls.

Granara, another first-time All-NE10 selection, has had a standout season in goal. The sophomore currently has a 6.79 goals-against average and a .586 save percentage, which rank second and third in the conference, respectively. He has also made 99 total saves and has allowed fewer than 10 goals in all but one game in 2025. He made three stops in overtime during the Semifinals on Wednesday.

Senior Colin Mulvey (Reading, Mass.), sophomore Mark Boyle (Reading, Mass.), and freshman Johnny Lucas (Peabody, Mass.) earned All-NE10 Third Team honors. Lemay, Lucas, and freshman Eddie O'Brien (Franklin, Mass.) were also selected to the All-Rookie Team.

Mulvey earned his first career All-NE10 selection after scoring 26 goals in the regular season, the second-most on the team. It marks his second straight 20-goal season. He recorded four hat tricks, including two five-goal performances, and netted the game-winner in overtime of the Semifinals.

Boyle also earned his first All-Conference nod after a breakout sophomore season. He ranked fourth on the team with 15 goals and added six assists for a career-high 21 points.

Lucas was recognized for his contributions on defense as a freshman. He played both long-stick midfield and close defense, ranking second on the team with 38 ground balls to go along with eight caused turnovers.

O'Brien rounded out Saint Anselm's All-Rookie selections after a strong freshman campaign. He was one of eight Hawks to record at least 14 points in the regular season, finishing with six goals and eight assists in 11 appearances.

Adelphi saw a league-high 12 student-athletes receive NE10 All-Conference recognition in addition to three major award winners.

Braden Donnellan was named NE10 Player of the Year, leading the conference and Division II with 89 points. His 56 assists also led the league and were second-most in the nation.

Dylan Renner, last year's Lt. Raymond J. Enners Outstanding Player of the Year (the highest honor in Division II men's lacrosse), won his third consecutive NE10 Goalkeeper of the Year award, becoming the first player to do so since Le Moyne's Jared Corcoran (2004–07). Renner leads the NE10 in both goals-against average (5.76) and save percentage (.642).

Ries Bower earned Defensive Player of the Year for the Panthers, continuing his dominance after setting the Division II single-season record for caused turnovers last year. He played both close defense and long-stick midfield in 2025.

All three major award winners from Adelphi also landed on the All-NE10 First Team, where they were joined by Kyle Lewis, Michael D'Alessandro, and Nick O'Shea.

Noah Gibson leads the NE10 with 51 goals, earning a spot on the All-NE10 Second Team. He was joined there by teammates Ryan Bauco, Kevin Groom, and Ryan Durnin.

Michael Durnin, who has the second-most goals in the conference (43), and Frank Falco were recognized on the Third Team for the Panthers.

HEAD COACHES:

First-year head coach Drew Bourdeau '18 became the third head coach in Saint Anselm men's lacrosse program history to win the NE10 Coach of the Year award, joining Michael Sciamanna in 2021 and Rick Senatore in 2007. He shared this year's honor with Assumption head coach Guy Bourdon.

Bourdeau has guided the Hawks to a perfect 12-0 record, including an 8-0 mark in NE10 play. It was the second undefeated regular season all-time for Saint Anselm as well as their second ever regular season title.

With Bourdeau at the helm, Saint Anselm has defeated six nationally ranked programs this spring. The Hawks have been ranked inside the top 10 of the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) national poll in all but one week this season, and currently are tied for fourth in the nation with Adelphi.

Gordon Purdie is in his 18th season as head coach for Adelphi. He has led the team to a 219-62 overall record during his tenure, the most wins by a coach in program history.

Under Purdie, the Panthers have won five NE10 postseason titles, been to three NCAA Final Fours, and won last year's NCAA National Championship. He is a two-time NE10 Coach of the Year and was named the USILA Coach of the Year last season.
