MANSFIELD, Mass. – First-year head coach
Drew Bourdeau '18 and freshman
Matt Lemay (Westminster, Mass.) of the nationally ranked #3 Saint Anselm College men's lacrosse team took home major end-of-season awards from the Northeast-10 Conference (NE10) on Friday. Bourdeau was named NE10 Co-Coach of the Year, while Lemay received Co-Rookie of the Year honors. For the second straight year, 10 student-athletes received All-Conference recognition for the Hawks, who claimed their first-ever outright NE10 Regular Season Championship after finishing the 2025 campaign with an 11-0 record.
Bourdeau becomes the third head coach in Saint Anselm men's lacrosse program history to win the Coach of the Year award, joining Michael Sciamanna in 2021 and Rick Senatore in 2007. He shares this year's honor with Assumption head coach Guy Bourdon. Bourdeau guided the Hawks to a perfect 11-0 record in the regular season, including an 8-0 mark in NE10 play. It was the second undefeated regular season all-time for Saint Anselm as well as their second ever regular season title.
With Bourdeau at the helm, Saint Anselm defeated five nationally ranked programs this spring, including #2 Adelphi for the first time in program history. The Hawks have been ranked inside the top 10 of the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) national poll in all but one week this season, and currently are the third-ranked team in the nation, which is the highest national ranking in program history.
Lemay is the third Saint Anselm student-athlete to ever win the Rookie of the Year Award, joining
Jack Andrews in 2021 and Troy Peters in 1999. The attacker shares this year's honor with Shane Corcoran of Assumption. Lemay, who also earned a spot on the All-NE10 Second Team and the All-Rookie Team, has had an excellent debut season on the Hilltop, leading the team with 28 goals and 38 points. The four-time NE10 Rookie of the Week is second in scoring among the league's freshmen. He has four-game-winners, 10 multi-goal games, and six outings with three or more scores while picking up 17 ground balls and causing five turnovers.
In addition to the pair of major award winners, 10 student-athletes from Saint Anselm have earned spots on the various NE10 All-Conference teams. Senior
Will Andrews (Cumberland, R.I.) and junior
Colby Goodchild (Reading, Mass.) have been selected to the All-NE10 First Team. Lemay, juniors
Chris Claflin (Newton, Mass.) and
Quinn Gannon (Scituate, Mass.), and sophomore
Finn Granara (Reading, Mass.) have been picked to the Second Team. Senior

Mark Boyle (Reading, Mass.), and freshman
Johnny Lucas (Peabody, Mass.) are Third Team selections, with Lemay, Lucas, and freshman

Saint Anselm had the second-most total All-NE10 honorees. Adelphi led the way with 12 selections, including a league-best six players that were named to the NE10 First Team. The First Team was made up of 15 student-athletes, while the Second Team and Third Team each contain 17 names. The All-Rookie Team has 21 players recognized.
Andrews grabs an NE10 All-Conference spot for the first time in his career, doing so as a member of this year's First Team. The senior has already matched his single season career-highs with 15 goals, five assists, and 20 points out of the midfield. In addition, Andrews is tied for the team lead with four game-winners and two man-up goals. He also has 11 ground balls and two caused turnovers to his credit this year.
Now a three-time All-NE10 recipient, Goodchild is a member of the First Team for the first time in his career. The short stick defensive midfielder has been a bulldog for Saint Anselm's defensive unit that has conceded just 89 goals in 11 games on the year, the second-fewest total in the conference. The Hawks have also taken the fewest penalties in the league. When down a man, Goodchild has helped the defense post a penalty-killing percentage of .727, the fourth-best figure in the NE10. Individually, Goodchild has caused five turnovers and scooped up 16 ground balls while defending some of the best attacking midfielders in the country.
Claflin becomes a three-time All-NE10 pick as well. He is a member of this year's Second Team after being a Third Team selection last season and an All-Rookie pick two years ago. After scoring 21 goals in 2024, Claflin has taken on a different role for Saint Anselm in 2025. This spring, the attacker leads the team and is fourth in the conference with 26 assists. The junior has notched multiple assists in eight out of his 11 games played. He set a new career-high with five helpers in a 9-6 win over #2 Adelphi earlier this month and was subsequently named NE10 Player of the Week for his performance. He also has 11 goals, putting him at 37 points on the season, the second-most on the team. Claflin has already set single season career-bests with 21 ground balls and five caused turnovers.
Joining Claflin as a member of the All-NE10 Second Team is Gannon, who has shined in his first season as Saint Anselm's top faceoff specialist. In just nine games played this spring, the junior has already won 100 faceoffs out of 152 attempts, good for a faceoff percentage of .658. His percentage is the second-best in the conference among players who have taken at least 50 draws. Additionally, Gannon leads the team and is fifth in the NE10 with 62 ground balls, the most in any of his three seasons on the Hilltop. He has one goal and one assist to his credit this season as well.
Another selection to this year's Second Team, Granara earns All-NE10 recognition for the first time. The sophomore has been dominant between the pipes this season for the Hawks with a 6.61 goals against average, the second-best figure in the NE10 among goalies with over 100 minutes played. Further, his .601 save percentage is the third-best in the conference. Granara has stopped 92 shots, picked up 16 ground balls, and caused four turnovers so far this year. He has also allowed under 10 goals in all but one game and earned the NE10 Goalie of the Week award twice this spring.
Mulvey earns a spot on the NE10 All-Conference roster for the first time as well, having been named to this year's Third Team. The senior has been dynamite for Saint Anselm offensively this season with 24 goals, the second-most on the squad. It is his second straight season with over 20 goals. This year, Mulvey has four games with at least three goals, scoring five times on two separate occasions. He has also recorded multiple goals in his last five outings and has seven assists on the season, good for a total of 31 points. The attacker recently surpassed 70 goals and 100 points for his career.
Boyle joins Mulvey on this year's Third Team, taking one of the midfield spots for his first career All-Conference accolade. After scoring just two goals last season as a freshman, Boyle has had a breakout sophomore season for Saint Anselm. He is tied for third on the team with 15 goals to go along with six assists for 21 points, the fourth-most of any Hawk.
Lucas is the third and final Hawk to have earned a spot on the Third Team, doing so as a long pole defenseman. The freshman has been a consistent starter for Saint Anselm this season, doing so as either a defenseman or as a long stick midfielder. Lucas ranks second on the team with 36 ground balls, while his seven caused turnovers are fourth-most on the squad. He is also a member of this year's All-Rookie Team.
O'Brien joins Lemay and Lucas on the All-Rookie Team after having a solid rookie season. The midfielder is one of eight players on the team with at least 14 points, doing so on six goals and eight assists in his 11 appearances.
As Regular Season Champions, Saint Anselm has earned the #1 seed and an opening round bye in the upcoming NE10 Men's Lacrosse Championship. The Hawks are back in action on Wednesday, April 30th and will host the winner of #4 seed Assumption and #5 seed Bentley in the NE10 Semifinals at 7:00 p.m. from Grappone Stadium.
