MANSFIELD, Mass. – Seven members of the Saint Anselm College softball team were recognized in the Northeast-10 Conference (NE10) year-end awards, as announced by the NE10 on Wednesday, April 30th. Three players were named to the All-NE10 Second Team, three others earned spots on the All-NE10 Third Team, and two players were selected to the All-Defense Team.
Sophomore Brooke Tardugno (Methuen, Mass.), senior Audrey Arsenault (Stow, Mass.), and sophomore Sam Ryan (Tewksbury, Mass.) were all named to the NE10 Second Team. Arsenault was also selected to the All-Defensive team for her work in the outfield this season.
Tardugno has been a menace on the base paths, leading both the Hawks and the NE10 with 30 stolen bases, tying her for the conference lead. That mark ranks third in a single season in program history and is just two shy of the all-time program record of 32. She also tied the program's single-game record with five steals in a game against Saint Michael's earlier this season. Tardugno leads the team in sacrifice bunts (7), ranks third in batting average (.304), and is second in runs scored (21).
Arsenault has done a bit of everything for the Hawks, leading the team in slugging percentage (.524), total bases (66), OPS (.939), and runs scored (32). Her run total ranks fifth in the NE10, while her slugging and OPS both place ninth in the conference. She also ranks second on the team in stolen bases (26), batting average (.325), multi-hit games (13), walks (20), hits (41), and home runs (4). Arsenault has two multi-home run games this season and ranks fourth in program history for both single-season (26) and career (46) steals.
Arsenault also received recognition for her defense, recording 75 putouts this season without a single error for a perfect fielding percentage. Of the 76 eligible fielders in the NE10, she was the only one to record a perfect fielding percentage. This is her second and third career NE10 honors, having been named to the Third Team last season.
Ryan has been a consistent force in the circle, earning 14 wins—second-most in the NE10. She's pitched a team-high 127 innings, recording 51 strikeouts, and leads the team with a 1.20 WHIP and a 2.54 ERA, which ranks seventh in the conference. Ryan completed 13 games and tossed two shutouts, including a two-hitter against Post.
Three more Hawks earned All-NE10 Third Team honors: senior Sam Wiberg (Exeter, N.H.), junior Rose Reitmeyer (Oxford, Conn.), and sophomore Caitlyn Duquette (Bedford, N.H.).
Wiberg, a steady contributor over the past three seasons, leads the team in batting average (.361) and hits (48). Her average ranks seventh in the NE10, while her 48 hits are tied for fifth. She also leads the team with 14 multi-hit games and posted the squad's single-game season high with four hits against UT Dallas. This is her second straight All-NE10 selection, after earning First Team honors last year.
Reitmeyer delivered in the cleanup role, leading the Hawks in RBI (32), home runs (6), and walks (25). Her RBI total ranks fifth in the NE10, and her 25 walks rank third—both totals placing in the top 10 in Saint Anselm single-season history. Her six home runs are also third-most in the NE10. This is her second consecutive selection to the All-NE10 Third Team.
Duquette had a breakout sophomore campaign, batting .286 with a .722 OPS. She recorded four doubles—two in the final three games of the season—along with four multi-hit games. She served as the team's primary designated player throughout the year.
Sophomore Jamie Calkins (Charlton, Mass.) earned a spot on the NE10 All-Defense Team for the second consecutive year. The shortstop recorded 81 putouts and 87 assists while committing just nine errors, finishing with a .949 fielding percentage. She also chipped in offensively, hitting nine doubles and notching her first career home run.
The Hawks now await the NCAA Division II Selection Show, scheduled for May 5th at 10 a.m., to see if they will earn a bid to the national tournament.
