MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior
Chase Reynolds (Middletown, Conn.) of the Saint Anselm College men's ice hockey team has broken the program's all-time record for games played in a career. The co-captain has now skated in 120 games across his four seasons of play on the Hilltop, surpassing men's ice hockey alumnus
Trey Aiello '20, who held the previous program record of 111 career games played.
Reynolds is one game shy of matching the Northeast-10 Conference's all-time record of 121 career games played, which is currently held by Assumption's Ronny Paragallo.
"Being able to reach this milestone is an honor and something I do not take for granted," said Reynolds. "From practices to games, it is a great privilege to play at Saint Anselm. I would like to thank Coach Rocha, Coach Herrick, my teammates, family, and friends for guiding me through these last four years. I am incredibly grateful for this experience and the supportive community on this campus."
The senior officially set the program record by playing in the team's January 25th contest at Assumption, where he helped the Hawks pick up a 4-0 win. He has never missed a game during his four-year career.
Reynolds and the Hawks were recently crowned NE10 Regular Season Champions for the 16th time in program history and second time in the last three years. Saint Anselm finished the season with a 16-3-1 record in conference play and recorded 50 points, which were the most in league history and 15 points more than second place Saint Michael's.
As a result, the Hawks earned the #1 seed and a First Round bye in the NE10 Men's Ice Hockey Championship. Saint Anselm defeated Assumption in a thrilling overtime matchup in the NE10 Semifinals over the weekend to secure their spot in the NE10 Championship Game. Reynolds recorded an assist on the game-winning goal scored by senior
Richie Colarusso (Tewksbury, Mass.).
For the second time in the last three seasons, Saint Anselm will host Saint Michael's for the NE10 title on Saturday, March 1st at 4:00 p.m. from the Sullivan Arena.
Reynolds is set to take the ice for the final time of his career on Saturday, which would put him at 121 career games played, 10 more than the previous program record. It is an astonishing achievement for the team captain considering the program started way back in 1969.
"While there is much to look back on, the most important game lies ahead as we aim to reclaim the NE10 title and bring it back to the Hilltop," Reynolds concluded.
In his career, Reynolds has 21 goals and 30 assists for 51 points. He has also scored six power play goals and six game-winning goals across his four seasons on the Hilltop. The centerman has proven himself valuable in the faceoff circle for the Hawks as well. In his career, Reynolds has won 771 faceoffs and has a faceoff win percentage of .483. He has already set a new career-high with 269 faceoff wins so far this year.
"Chase has had a major impact on the men's ice hockey team over the last four years," said seventh-year head coach
Larry Rocha '79. "From day one, he has been a leader. He wears a 'C' this year and leads the team both on the ice and off. He has the respect of all the players and coaches, and is a great role model for the rest of the team. He is an amazing young man."
During the 2022-23 season, Reynolds helped Saint Anselm win the NE10 Championship, the program's conference-leading 11th postseason title. That year, he registered 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points to go along with four game-winners, which were all single season career-bests. This year, Reynolds has racked up six goals (sixth-most on the team) and eight assists for 14 points.
