NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass.  – Freshman Edward Onyia earned his first career Northeast 10 Conference Rookie of the Week honor, the league announced Monday.

Onyia recorded his first career double-double in the Saint Anselm's lone game this past week as the Hawks defeated Saint Michael's College, 88-69 College at the Ross Sports Center in the Hawks' Northeast 10 Conference opener on Wednesday.

Onyia recorded career-highs of 20 points and 13 rebounds in the win, shooting 7-10 from the field, 2-3 from deep, and 4-4 from the line with five offensive rebounds, one assist, and one block in 25 minutes off the bench.

Onyia is averaging 8.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 19.6 minutes per game this season, appearing in all seven games off the bench. The freshman from Leicester, England, is second among first-year scorers on the team, trailing only classmate Hayden John, who is averaging 10.3 points per contest.

Onyia has scored in double-figures three times this season, including the past two games, and is averaging 15 points and eight rebounds with a field goal percentage of 68.8% (11-16) over his last two appearances.

Onyia and the Hawks are back home at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 1:30 p.m. for a non-conference matchup with Southern New Hampshire University (4-4, 0-2 NE10).
