How it Happened

The Hawks had a sluggish start to the game, going 3-14 in the fourth quarter, but the defense held strong as Saint Anselm trailed by just five, 13-8. Trapper led the team with six points in the quarter.

Goldey-Beacom scored five straight points to open the second, leading by 10, 18-8, eventually leading by as much as 12 points, 23-11. Trapper then scored the final eight points of the half as the Lightning missed their final 12 shots and the Hawks trailed 23-19 at the break.

Another slow start for Saint Anselm put the Lightning back up by eight, 27-19, but a layup from freshman Amarilis Shubick sparked the Hawks' offense. Three straight threes, one from sophomore Elise MacNair and a pair from Trapper, gave Saint Anselm its first lead of the second half heading into the fourth quarter, 32-29.

The fourth quarter was all Saint Anselm, and after missing their first two shots of the frame, the Hawks rattled off 10 of their next 11 shots and six of their next seven three-point attempts. Vaz scored eight in the quarter to lead seven different Hawks who got on the board as Saint Anselm closed out the win, 61-43.
